Tim Holtz Halloween 2023 – “Graveyard Colorize” with Mica Stains Background!

Let’s have some spooky fun today! We are going to create this creepy Halloween graveyard using the brand-new Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits – Graveyard Colorize Set from the Halloween 2023 collection!

To set the scene for our card, we will be using the Tim Holtz Mica Stains in Wicked Elixir, Ominous Twilight, and Mulled Cider. These stains have mica in them which will give the background a fantastic shimmer. I’ll give you a few tips and tricks for using these stains in this video!

While our background is drying, we can die cut and assemble the gravestones and skulls. These colorize dies are easy to use and to line up….I’ll show you that up close in the video as well. We will add a little bit of shadowing to these dies using a sponge dauber and some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks.

We will also die cut the fence from this same set and the using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits – Big Frights Set we can die cut the moon and bats out of some glitter papers!

Next, let’s go to the Tim Holtz idea-ology Paper Dolls from the Halloween collection and grab any of the spooky looking people. Pick the one you like best…I thought the little boy and girl were fun for this project!

Next, we can create the card base and I will give you all of the dimensions and scoring instructions for this larger card!

Before we start assembling the card, we can cut a slit in the little girl’s arms to hold a skull. We can add some black cardstock to the bottom of the card panel to give our elements something to sit on. We can just tear the top of the paper for a creepier look!

Let’s assemble the card and add a word chip that says “The Grave Keeper” to the bottom of the card. This will come from Tim Holtz idea-ology Baseboards – Halloween 2023 or any of your Halloween collections.

Now let’s add some Tim Holtz Distress Texture Paste in Black Opaque to the bottom of the card for added dimension and interest.

For the finishing touch, we can add a sticker from the Tim Holtz idea-ology Sticker Book – Halloween 2023 which says “Established 1876”!
