Must Try Embossing Folder Technique w/ Tim Holtz Stash!

Discover creative techniques to add depth and dimension to your projects using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Texture Fades “Vault Gears” embossing folder. After embossing your panel, apply Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks with a blending brush for a smooth, colorful base. To finish, highlight the raised textures by scraping a selection of Distress Oxide Inks and Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink directly onto the high spots for a striking, multi-dimensional effect.

Apply a layer of embossable ink and then add Tim Holtz Embossing Glaze in Rusty Hinge. Once heat-set, the glaze will provide a beautiful, translucent finish that allows the underlying details to show through.

Next, spatter Black Soot ink and Tim Holtz Distress Spritz in Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo onto the panel. These will create an elegant shimmer that blends perfectly with the previously applied colors. Finally, ink the edges of the panel with Black Soot before layering it onto a card base using Distress Kraft Heavystock.

Stamp the dragonfly using the TH Classics 1 Stamp Set. This versatile set also includes a pear and a compass, both of which would work beautifully for this project. Next, add color to the dragonfly using Distress Inks and fussy cut the image. Finally, blend a small amount of ink around the edges to soften the cream-colored border for a professional finish.

To create the center of the dragonfly, secure a pen nib in place using E6000 adhesive. Next, apply 3D foam squares and a touch of twine to the back of the dragonfly before mounting it onto the card. Finally, embellish your design with ephemera, gears, gems, stickers, and a quote chip.

To finish, add one final spatter of bright white ink to unify the entire composition.

We are going to create two beautiful floral bouquets using the Scrapbook.com Build-A-Bouquet Dies and the Scrapbook.com Bouquet Picks. These two die sets are designed to coordinate nicely together, and the added bouquet pics gives you lots and lots of options for all different seasons and holidays!

In today’s video, I will show you how to cut, color, and assemble these pretty flowers. We will create two different designs, one with a paper wrap around the bouquet and the other will look like it is tied together with a bow!

The two we are making today will be layered onto a thick base that will allow these to sit up nicely on a little easel. Great as not only a card but a little gift as well.

For the background, we will be using the Scrapbook.com Polka Dots 3D Embossing Folder. This is a go-to embossing folder, especially for me, because I absolutely love polka dots!

For the frame, we will be using the Scrapbook.com Nested Stitched Stamps Dies. These are great for your postal style cards, but I think they are also perfect to create an interesting frame for you cards.

Let’s go ahead and assemble all of the layers and our pretty bouquets and add a few sparkly gems for added interest!

Let’s have some fun today using the NEW Tim Holtz Vault Picture Show Die Set! But that’s not all…we will also give this card a mixed media look by incorporating many Tim Holtz products including some stenciling, texture paste, distress spritz, distress inks, transparencies, and so much more! All of these products are from the Tim Holtz collections. We will also be using the brand-new TH idea-ology Palette Collection Paper in Pink…which of course I absolutely love!

Many of you may already have lots of Tim Holtz products and maybe you aren’t necessarily sure how to put them all together. It can be a bit intimidating…so I’m going to try and break down the steps and my thought process as I assembled this card. You may just want to take some of the ideas into your own creations or re-create this card exactly. But what I’m really hoping is that you are inspired to break out your stash and have some fun!

Creating a Party Favor/Gift Card Holder using the Ai Box Village Set!

Today we will be using the brand-new Art Impressions Box Village Template Die Set (6114) to create a fun Party Favor/Gift Card Holder! This project would be a great Valentine’s gift or housewarming gift.

We will die cut with all of the dies needed to create the village box and then I will show you how to create a box insert to house your candies and gift card … or anything else you might want to put in here. Maybe a card or a small gift! I will give you all of the dimensions in the video so that your box insert will fit snuggly in the bottom of the house and I will also show you how to make it easy to slide this in and out of the house!

For decorative papers, we will be using the Ai Valentine’s Paper Pack (5741). For some added interest to the front door, we will use the tiny heart wreath from the Ai Front Porch Valentine’s Set (5493) and add a cute little twine bow!

Let’s also add a sentiment behind the front door using the Ai Front Porch Set (5512) and it will say “Home Sweet Home”… but again you could substitute this with any sentiment that suits the occasion.

To create some sparkle lets add a few pale pink gems along the roof line and some red hearts to each of the windows.

For my little box insert, I used some paper shreds in pink, added some candies, and a gift card!

I’m so thrilled to be showing you the brand-new Ai Birdie Betty (6080) stamp set today! This adorable golfing lady is just extra cute and special. I know so many golfers that would love to receive a card with this little lady!

Also, there are four other brand-new stamp sets in this series as follows: Loungin’ Linda, Gardener Gail, Cruisin’ Carol. I will list and link all of these for you down below.

We will create a fun a triangle fun fold card using the Ai Baby Boy Paper Pack (6058). It’s always fun to look through your papers and see if you can use them in a new and different way. We will use the pretty cloudy and starry sky and some fun polka dots and plaids.

Let’s begin by creating the square card base and with some simple cutting we can create this triangle flap and coordinating layers. I’ll show give you the exact measurements and instructions in today’s video!

For the circle shapes, we will use the Ai Nested Circle Dies (5726) in a few different sizes. The larger one will be from some polka dot paper and the smaller one will be from some 100lb white cardstock … but to make this really fun we will emboss this circle with the “Lots of Dots” embossing folder and this will look just like a golf ball! You will actually want to use the back side of the embossed circle … those indented circles will perfectly mimic the texture of a real golf ball!

We will glue these two together and attach them to the front of the card. We will just be gluing one half of the circle to the triangle flap. What’s really nice is that the double-sided paper will give us a pretty pattern on the inside of the card as well.

Next, we can stamp, color and die-cut the lady and golf bag! All of today’s coloring was done using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Sugared Almond Pink, Pale Yellow, Flesh Colour, Beige, Ice Blue, Hyacinth Blue, Iris Blue, Emerald Green, Lt Gray, Gray.

We can grab a white gel pen and add some fun polka dots to her golf shirt and also add a few highlights!

Let’s also add a sentiment from this same set that says, “Still got it.” Simply cut this into a sentiment strip and add a bit of plaid paper to frame it nicely.

We can pop-up the little lady with some 3D Foam Squares for some added interest and dimension.

Going to the inside of the card we will die-cut another of the larger circle from that same die set and emboss that with the same dotted texture! I will show you a little trick for attaching this perfectly behind the circle on the front of the card.

Glue in another sentiment from that same set that says, “Queen of the Green” and frame that with some polka dotted paper. Now you can glue down the golf bag as well.

As a finishing touch, and to mimic the stars in the pattern paper, we will and some crystal stars in a pretty blue color!

This card design gives you a fun way to use your paper packs to create a unique card design! Do keep in mind that the square cards will require a bit more postage so be sure to ask your postal office about the difference in price. I usually just hand mine to the intended recipient when it is a square card so that I can avoid that all together!

Shabby Chic Gift Card Holder!

Today we will be creating a fun Shabby Chic Gift Card Holder using the brand-new Ai Flower & Bug Set (6041) which was designed to fit perfectly on the Ai Gift Card Pocket Set (5811). This new Flower & Bug set includes a pretty flower and stem, a ladybug, a bee, and a little tag!

Let’s get started by using the Ai Mother’s Day Cover Paper Pack (6052) to create the little gift card pocket. As soon as I saw the beautiful roses paper in this pack, I knew that I had to do a Shabby Chic project! We will die cut this, assemble the pocket, and then start adding some ink to the edges to begin the Shabby Chic look. We will use a combination of Lost Shadow, Hickory Smoke, and Vintage Photo inks from the Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads.

We also need to die-cut the flower, stem, and tag and we will also die-cut a pretty doily from the Tim Holtz Collection. We can ink the flower and tag in the Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, and Picked Raspberry and the stem in the Lost Shadow and Hickory Smoke. We can ink around the edges of all of these pieces with the Vintage Photo ink as well.

Next, let’s add some Tim Holtz Distress Spritz in the same Vintage Photo. We will use the ink directly from the nozzle and spatter the pocket, flower and stem, doily, and tag! This will add a vintage look and also a bit of shimmer!

Now we will stamp a bit of text onto the tag using the Versafine Clair Ink Pad in Sand Dune. We can add a sentiment to the tag in this same ink. The sentiment if from the Ai Friend Sentiments Set (5734) and it says, “Live life in full bloom”, however, any of the sentiments from this set would be great.

We can add the doily, flower and stem to the pocket. You can use the left-over doily on the backside of the pocket if you want finish off the back of the pocket. Let’s also create a card for the pocket which will be the same size as a gift card. Then we can add the smaller tag to the top on a little bit of an angle.

Let’s add a button to the center of the flower and then we will add some Tim Holtz Distress Foundry Wax to the button and around the edges of the pocket. Be sure to heat set this once you have applied it otherwise it will just turn to a dust like consistency. Once it has been heat set it will add a metallic shine to your project. I will show you exactly how to use this wonderful product in today’s video.

We will also add some sparkle using the Tim Holtz Distress Mica Flakes around the edges of the pocket, flower and mini tag.

Let’s wrap some pretty Hemp Twine in Dusty Rose around the pocket and tie a bow. And, as a finishing touch we will add some Metallic Gems in Matte Gold. These have a nice vintage look to them!

Just add your gift card and sign the card and you are all set to give this pretty vintage gift to a special someone!

Let’s have some fun today playing with one of my favorite “Girlfriends” sets! We will be using the Ai Uptown Girls Set (4129) which comes with these four wonderfully fashionable ladies and some coordinating sentiments!

If you are not familiar with the “Girlfriends” sets you may want to take a look at some of the others that are available including the Gardening Girlfriends, Crazy Friends, Cheers My Deers, Friends Forever and so many more! I will give you the link in the description box and you can just type “Girlfriends” in the search bar and all of these wonderful sets will come up!

To get started we can die cut the largest die from the Ai Rectangle A2 Double Stitched Die Set (5063) and then stamp and color our little ladies using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Flesh Colour, Sugared Almond Pink, Dk Pink, Yellow, Orange, Haze Blue, Lt Blue, Ice Blue, Lt Gray, Warm Gray 4, Dk Gray, May Green, Green, Brown, Beige, Mid Brown.

To add some additional interest and detail to the ladies’ outfits we will add some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter and some polka dots, and highlights with a white gel pen.

To set the scene, we will use a combination of pretty blue inks and for the stencil we will use the Lawn Fawn Draped Ribbon Stencil! Once the stenciling is done, we will spatter the darkest blue ink onto the cardstock before we remove the stencil. This will give a pretty look to our sky!

Next, let’s die cut three fences from the Ai WC Arbor Set (5363) from some black 100lb cardstock.

We will also add a cobblestone walk using the Ai WC Cobblestone Set (5018) onto some gray 100lb cardstock. We can tear the top of the panel, stamp the cobblestone walk, add some shadowing with a gray marker, and add some ink around the edges of the panel to tie everything together.

Before we begin the assembly let’s stamp a sentiment for the front of the card using this same stamp set and then a few sentiments for the inside of the card using the Ai Birthday Sentiments Set (5735) or the Ai Mini Birthday Sentiments Set (5866) or a combination of the two.

Now we will quickly assemble the card and as a finishing touch we will sprinkle on some pretty iridescent gems!

Vellum Overlay “Stay Fabulous” Card!

Today we will create a vellum overlay card using the super fun Ai Stay Hydrated Set (5928). This stamp set has a wonderful image of a lady holding her tumbler, which can be decorated with the variety of insert stamps available in this set. It also has some wonderful coordinating sentiments, and we will be using one of those today. We are going to be using just the individual tumbler for today’s card and hopefully give this set a fun new look!

This card was inspired by the current Ai Blog “Drink Up!” Challenge. For this challenge you can use coffee, tea, cocoa, wine, water or whatever this challenge congers up in your mind! Just have fun!

For the card base we will create a A2 size card using some vellum and a piece of 100lb cardstock in white. The vellum will overlay the white card base. So next we can stamp the tumbler along the bottom of the vellum using the Staz-on Snowflake White Ink Pad. This will dry permanently on the vellum with no need to emboss….unless you want to!

The next step is the best part! We will do all of the coloring of the tumblers on the backside of the vellum in a rainbow of colors. Here we can do some simple blending and highlighting. Keep in mind that the coloring will stay wet a bit longer because the vellum is not as absorbent as your cardstock and will allow the ink to sit up on the vellum. Just be careful and heat set the ink as you go along.

To do the coloring I will be using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Carmine Red, Scarlet Red, Bright Yellow, May Green, Blue, Violet, Cool Gray 3. However, your Tombow Markers and blender marker would work great for this technique.

Now let’s add some lettering to each of the tumblers using the Ai Small Alphabet Set (5284). We will stamp out the word “CHEERS”!

Next, let’s create a pretty scalloped border for the top of the card and for our sentiment. The border die is from the Ai Journal Template Die Set (5543). It is not quite long enough to fit across the card so I will show you how to easily extend the border to the needed size.

Once the border is die-cut we can add the sentiment from the same set and ink it with our markers in all of the rainbow colors. You may have to ink it a few times to get a nice crisp stamping.

Using some double-side tape we will add the border to the vellum overlay and then with some additional double-side tape we can attach the vellum to the card base.

For some additional interest we will stamp and die-cut some cute little butterflies from the Ai Birds and Bugs Set (5561) and sprinkle those around the tumblers in the coordinating colors. With the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen, we will add some sparkle to each of the butterflies.

Finally, let’s add some pretty iridescent gems and ribbon, both of which will pick up all of these rainbow colors!

In today’s video we are going to create a super fun Fringed Floral Gift Card Pocket! This card was inspired by the current Art Impressions “Not Just Paper” Blog Challenge which is to create a card or project that isn’t just paper. So, let’s add some fabric, a button, some gems and a bit of twine to today’s card!

For our floral images and leaves we will be using the Ai My Hope Set (5936). This set also includes these really wonderful, stamped lines which we will be using on our pocket tag! The little butterflies are from the Ai Birds and Bugs Set (5561).

Let’s go ahead and stamp and color all of our images using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Ice Blue, Aquamarine Blue, Sea Green, Turquoise Green, Smoky Teal, English Lavender, Violet.

Now we can create our pocket and background panel using the Ai Fairy Garden Paper Pack (5939). We can die cut the pieces for the pocket out of the lavender polka dot paper and the background from the pretty coordinating floral paper using the Ai Rectangle A2 Double Stitched Dies. The Money Pocket Die Set is from Lawn Fawn!

We will add some fabric fringe to the outside edges of the pocket…love this look! Let’s also add a teal-colored button to the pocket with a bit of lavender and white twine tied in a knot.

Next, we can assemble the card base and pocket…and also add the florals, leaves and butterflies. To add a bit of sparkle we will add some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter to these items.

To create the tag for the pocket, let’s cut some patterned paper a bit larger than the gift card. On one side of the tag, we will stamp those lines that I mentioned earlier and then we can also stamp a sentiment using the Ai Friend Sentiments Set (5734). I was so happy when this sentiment fit perfectly on these lines!

We can add a flower and leave to the tag and then add a pretty gem to the centers of each of our flowers!

All we need to do is attach the gift card to the tag or just simply place it in the pocket if you don’t want to tape it down. This pocket would also be great for some money as well! You could also just simply write a sweet message on this tag and tuck it into the pocket if you prefer!

Front and Back “All A-Buzz” Window Card!

Today we will be creating a super fun “Front and Back” card using a couple of different stamp sets from Art Impressions! If you haven’t seen the “Fronts and Backs” yet, then you are going to love the way you can see both sides of the image when the card is opened and closed. The stamps we will be using today include the cute little Ai Honey Bee Set (5925) and the adorable little Ai Gnomes Set (5765). The Gnome Set has a Front and Back Gnome that we will be placing in the window of our card.

But what is really fun is that the Ai Honey Bee Set has these beautiful sunflowers and one of the little bees that line up perfectly, as well, to create a front and back! It was sort of by chance that I figured that out…and oh was I happy!

Let’s start by stamping, coloring and die cutting all of the images that we will be using today. The dies for the stamps are included in the sets but we will also be using the Ai Farm FB Fence Set (5770) to create the fence and opening in the card.

All of today’s coloring was done using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Pale Yellow, Yellow, Flesh Colour, Blush, Haze Blue, Sea Green, Turquoise Green, Lt Gray, Olive Green, Mid Green, Dk Green, Warm Gray 6, Brown. Dk Brown.

Next, we can create a pretty sky by die cutting a large, stitched panel and blending the panel using our Distress Oxide Inks in Salvage Patina and Peacock Feathers. Let’s also spatter the sky with the Peacock Feathers ink and also spatter it with the Dr. Ph Martin’s Bleed Proof White Ink.

Now we need to die cut the rectangular opening which in included in the FB Farm Die Set and we will need to die cut this again into our card base. I will show you exactly how to easily line everything up in today’s video. We also need to die cut two of the fences from some Kraft cardstock. We will add a bit of inking to the fences to give them a more rustic look. Before we assemble the sky frame onto the card, we will sandwich a piece of acetate in between the layers so that we can give the card a more finished look as well as give us a place to glue our Front and Back Bee! You’ll see what I mean when you watch the video!

We will also need to die cut a few grassy borders and ink them using the Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn and Rustic Wilderness.

Let’s go ahead and stamp the sentiment on the section of sky that we die cut from the larger rectangle.

Next, glue the fronts and backs of the gnome and sunflowers and then we can assemble the card!

We can add some highlights with a white gel pen and some sparkle with some pretty topaz-colored gems!
