Tim Holtz Halloween idea-ology Stash Card!

Let’s have some fun today using our Tim Holtz stash including the idea-ology Halloween Backdrops, Ephemera, Layers & Paper Dolls! Let’s also use the super spooky Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Framed Frights Stamp Set. I absolutely love this set because of all of the possible ways that it can be used … and it is so creepy!

We will create some film strips using this set of images and the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits Vault Picture Show Die Set. We will also create a great background to set the scene and then using lots of our Tim Holtz Stash to add more interest and dimension to the card front. We will also use one of the film strips to complete the inside of the card.

You all know by now that I love adding some TH Distress Glaze to my projects whenever I can! So, we will add some glaze to the corners of the front layer and to the bat wings on our creepy little guy! Remember that the glaze will allow anything underneath to show through. The glaze just adds a tint of color and some sheen!

Once the card is assembled, we can spatter on some silver metallic ink, and this will just tie everything together!

Must Try Embossing Folder Technique w/ Tim Holtz Stash!

Discover creative techniques to add depth and dimension to your projects using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Texture Fades “Vault Gears” embossing folder. After embossing your panel, apply Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks with a blending brush for a smooth, colorful base. To finish, highlight the raised textures by scraping a selection of Distress Oxide Inks and Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink directly onto the high spots for a striking, multi-dimensional effect.

Apply a layer of embossable ink and then add Tim Holtz Embossing Glaze in Rusty Hinge. Once heat-set, the glaze will provide a beautiful, translucent finish that allows the underlying details to show through.

Next, spatter Black Soot ink and Tim Holtz Distress Spritz in Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo onto the panel. These will create an elegant shimmer that blends perfectly with the previously applied colors. Finally, ink the edges of the panel with Black Soot before layering it onto a card base using Distress Kraft Heavystock.

Stamp the dragonfly using the TH Classics 1 Stamp Set. This versatile set also includes a pear and a compass, both of which would work beautifully for this project. Next, add color to the dragonfly using Distress Inks and fussy cut the image. Finally, blend a small amount of ink around the edges to soften the cream-colored border for a professional finish.

To create the center of the dragonfly, secure a pen nib in place using E6000 adhesive. Next, apply 3D foam squares and a touch of twine to the back of the dragonfly before mounting it onto the card. Finally, embellish your design with ephemera, gears, gems, stickers, and a quote chip.

To finish, add one final spatter of bright white ink to unify the entire composition.

Tim Holtz Mixed Media Santa Postage Card!

Hello and Welcome!

Please join me today in creating a vintage mixed media Christmas card using lots of products from the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Collections!

We will be using the wonderful “Santa Visit” Stamp Set as our focal image and we will be coloring it using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Flesh Colour, Blossom Pink, Deep Red, Ice Blue, Dull Blue, Ever Green, Beige, Mid Brown, Lt Gray, Dk Gray.

We will die cut this image with the Scrapbook.com Nested Stitched Stamps Dies and after the coloring is complete we will add some ink around the edges with the TH Distress Oxide Inks in Antique Linen and Walnut Stain.

We can add a cute little cancellation stamp in the corner using the TH Stampers Anonymous Stamp/Stencil Set #41. This set has a stencil and several postal related stamps!

Let’s create a background panel for this postage stamp using those same inks and adding some TH Distress Spritz in Rustic Wilderness and Walnut Stain. This will leave a nice spattering that has a beautiful shimmer!

We will also add some stamping the this background and then some TH Texture Paste using the TH Stampers Anonymous Mini Layering Stencils – Set 62.

Next, we can die cut a pretty vintage Sizzix Thinlits – Crochet border to place just under the postage stamp design. Let’s also add a pretty poinsettia and leaves using the TH Sizzix Thinlits – Funky Nordic die set.

We will assemble the card using some cool greens from the TH idea-ology Kraft-stock for added layering.

And finally, let’s add a few sparkly gems for a bit more interest and dimension!

Tim Holtz Texture Fades and Dies w/ Metallic Gilding Polish!

I’ve got and extra special “pretty in pink” metallic holiday card to show you today! We will not only be using several wonderful Tim Holtz products but also the gorgeous Cosmic Shimmer Metallic Gilding Polish!

If you haven’t seen these gilding polishes before you may want to check out these videos that I had previously posted. There is lots of information about the gilding polish and the opal polishes as well. I will link those here for you:

So for today’s card, let’s begin by setting the scene for the poinsettia that we will be creating by embossing some white 100lb cardstock using a 3D Texture Fades Embossing Folder. Almost any pretty, swirly, background embossing folder would be perfect for this card. Once the embossing is done, we will add some Gilding polish in Citrus Green, Coral Sands, and Pink Sunset. I’ll talk about some techniques that I use to apply the Gilding Polish to my projects in today’s video.

Let’s use those same colors to create a “woodgrain” style background to mount the embossed panel onto. This will coordinate perfectly and bring everything together!

Next, for the beautiful poinsettia, we will use the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits – Vault Seasonal Sketch. Again, using those same gilding colors we will apply the ink to some white cardstock and then die cut the poinsettias and leaves. Now we can assemble the flower and leaves!

For the center of the flower, we will add a few sparkly gems for a bit more interest and dimension. To give these a bit more dimension you can easily shape the flowers with your fingers by just curling up the petals. It is a simple touch that adds so much to your flowers and leaves!

Let’s die cut the word “Merry” from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits – Merry & Bright die set. We will die cut 3 or 4 of these and attach them together to create a nice thick sentiment. We will add some of the Pink Sunset Polish to this sentiment first and then scrape on some of the Coral Sands in a few places. You will love how this looks!

Finally, let’s assemble the card and add a strip of white embossed paper just underneath the poinsettia for a simple way of visually grounding this beautiful flower!

Tim Holtz Vintage Holiday Postcards!

In today’s video we will be creating some one-layer Vintage Holiday Postcards using several products from the Tim Holtz product line!

To get started we will cut some TH Distress Kraft Heavystock paper to a standard size postcard measuring 4 1/4″ x 6″. We will be making three postcards today so we will use some mass production techniques.

Let’s go ahead and stamp the wonderful Santa and tree from the Tim Holtz – Stampers Anonymous -Santa Visit Stamp Set. We will be using several images from this set today.

In order to make the tree look like it sits behind Santa we will stamp our Santa onto some masking paper. We will mask the Santa and then stamp the tree, remove the masking paper and reveal the design. We can also mask around the edges of the postcard with that same masking paper by cutting it into 1/4″ strips and place it all around the edges while we do some simple ink blending.

Leaving the mask around the edges we can stamp some holly leaves and a wonderful calendar which is also in this stamp set! We can also spatter this will some of the Vintage Photo ink and also the TH Distress Spritz in Frayed Burlap. This will add a bit of shimmer!

Next, let’s color all of the images using the Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Pencils in the following colors: Candied Apple, Fired Brick, Tattered Rose, Wild Honey, Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, Iced Spruce, Hickory Smoke, Black Soot, Twisted Citron, Rustic Wilderness, Picket Fence. I’ll show you a few different techniques for using these pencils. We will use a blending brush, a water brush, and also go directly to the paper.

For the ornaments, we will use a gold, silver and white gel pen. This will add a metallic shimmer, but it won’t be too sparkly.

On the backside of the postcard, we will switch over to the Tim Holtz – Stampers Anonymous – Correspondence Stamp Set we will stamp the postal stripe around the edges using some blue and red ink. I’ll show you a few tips and tricks for stamping this border.

Now we can stamp the “Postcard” sentiment as well and add the lines needed for the address and to separate the postcard into two sections. To make this really easy to do we will be using a fun little T-Ruler.

Now we can leave the left side of the postcard blank for writing in your personal sentiment, however I decided to stamp the sentiment that came with the set that says “Will leave North Pole tonight. Arrive at your house Christmas Eve. Santa Claus”.

Let’s add a bit of ink blending around the postal stripe to tie everything together!

Tim Holtz Mixed Media Christmas Curiousity!

In today’s video we will be creating a super fun mixed media Christmas decorative project using tons of products from Tim Holtz including stamps, dies, inks, spritz, stickers, charms, papers, paste, glitter and so much more!

The focal image for our project will be the typewriter and large numbers from the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Curiosity Shop stamp set. We will also be using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits Papercut Cafe’ set for the cute little Christmas mug and the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits Vault Festive Wreath set for the poinsettia and sprigs!

Since there are so many steps involved in this project, I am going to direct you to the video where I will show you step-by-step exactly what I did to create this fun home decor item!

Fun with Tim Holtz Oxide Sprays, Dies and Embossing Folders!

Let’s have some fun today playing with our Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Sprays to create a few backgrounds! I’ll be using some Strathmore Bristol Smooth 100lb Cardstock for the card panels. This cardstock will allow the ink to flow and blend nicely and is heavy enough to avoid too much warping.

I thought I would create a loose pastel rainbow effect on each of the panels. However, for one of them we will allow a lot more blending and for the other one we will try to keep the colors a bit more separate to get more of a rainbow look.

To do our spraying we will be using the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Sprays in the following colors: Spun Sugar, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Cracked Pistachio, and Salvaged Patina. I’ll show you in the video how I created the two different looks!

Once these panels are dry, we can grab the beautiful Tim Holtz Sizzix “Tapestry” Texture Fades embossing folder. This will add a beautiful pattern and wonderful texture to each of these panels. Although this embossing folder was released for the Fall/Halloween season, you will be amazed at how perfect it is for this card background!

Next, we can add a vintage look to the high spots on the embossed areas and some ink around the edges using the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink in Scorched Timber.

Let’s take a look at the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits – Bloom, Colorize Die Set. There are two wonderful leaf sprays that we can die cut in some white cardstock. We will layer them using this white cardstock and then add some color by spattering the leaves with the various colors of Distress Inks. Let’s also add some Scorched Timber in around the edges.

For our sentiments, we will use the Tim Holtz idea-ology Quote Chips “Labels” set. This set has so many wonderful sentiments that it will be very hard to choose! We can ink around the edges of these quote chips as well.

Next, let’s assemble these items onto our card base which will be created using the Tim Holtz Distress Kraft Heavystock.

For a finishing touch, let’s add some beautiful Metallic Matte Gold Pearls!

Baby Girl Card w/ Layered Dots Background!

I’ve got a sweet little girl baby card to show you today! The images we will be using are from the Ai Baby Girl Set (5185) and include the cute baby girl, rattle, pull toy and several fun coordinating sentiments!

Let’s stamp and color our images using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Sugared Almond Pink, Pale Rose, Flesh Colour, Yellow, Pale Green, Lt Green, Beige, Mid Brown, Lt Gray.

Next, we can create this unique and adorable background using the Tim Holtz Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits – Layered Dots Die Set. This set is from the Tim Holtz Halloween collection, and we are going to make it look completely different today. I love looking through my dies and stamps and using them in a fun and new way. If you enjoy this idea, you may want to check out the video I had recently done using the Tim Holtz Layered Stripes Die Set which was released as part of the Christmas collection, and we will transform it into a beautiful vintage background (see below for video).

For papers we will use a few different paper packs including the Ai Mini Paper Pack (5835) and the Ai Easter Paper Pack (5742). We will keep the background fairly muted by using a kraft cardstock base and layers of white, pink/white polka dots, and beige/white polka dots.

After we die cut the background layers, we can easily glue them together and attach them to the card base.

Let’s also add a pink/white gingham strip onto the background and also add a few rick-rack borders in white from the Ai Journal Template Die Set (5543). We will use this same set to die cut a scallop circle and a small circle to fit inside the scallop circle. This smaller circle is from the Ai Nested Circle Dies (5726) and will be for our sentiment.

Let’s stamp and emboss the sentiment with a pretty Blush Pearl color. We can layer up the sentiment with some foam squares for added dimension.

Now we can assemble the card and for a finishing touch we can add some beautiful pink opalescent sequins. This will give the card a bit of shimmer and sparkle. We can also add a touch of glitter using the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen!

This card was inspired by the current Ai Blog Challenge called “You Spin Me Round” where we should include a circle on our card or project. Please join us in this challenge…. the possibilities are endless!!!
