Tim Holtz Mixed Media Slimline Halloween Card w/ Stencil Paste!

Let’s create a spooky slimline Halloween card using lots of products from the Tim Holtz collections including idea-ology, stencil, mummy cloth, Distress Spritz, and Distress Oxide Inks!

But to get started, lets die cut some adorable little ghosts using the Scrapbook.com Nested Ghost Dies. These are so much fun because you also get the dies needed to create different faces. You may also prefer to use the Tim Holtz Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous – Spooky Spirits Stamp Set. This set contains several wonderful ghosts that would also be perfect for this card!

Next, using some TH Distress Black Heavystock to create our slimline panel we will do some stenciling with paste. The stencil is the TH Anonymous Halloween Script Stencil (you could also use the TH Stampers Anonymous Mini Set 23 Stencils which has the same words in a smaller version). Now we can stencil this panel using the Simon Hurley Lunar Paste – Rosy Cheeks. Once the stenciling is done we can set the panel aside to dry completely.

To distress the panel we will scrape some black permanent ink across the top of the stenciling. Let’s also ink blend some white pigment ink all around the edges of the panel. We will also spatter the panel with the TH Distress Spritz in Hickory Smoke.

Next, we will add a bit of inking and shadowing to the little ghosts using some markers and Distress Oxide Ink in Lost Shadow and Hickory Smoke.

For the card base we will use the Lawn Fawn Guava Cardstock, but before we attach these two together, we will wrap some Lawn Fawn Hemp Twine around the panel.

Let’s pop up the panel on the card base with some black foam tape. Before we add the ghosts we will cut some small sections of mummy tape and place them behind each of the ghosts. We can pop these up on the card as well!

The “Lost in the Darkness” sentiment will come from the TH idea-ology Halloween Baseboards.

For a finishing touch, let’s add some sparkly gems for a bit of sparkle!

Let’s Celebrate Slimline Card!

Let’s create a pretty pastel slimline card today! We will be using several Lawn Fawn products, some pretty papers and dies from Art Impressions, and a fun polka dot embossing folder from Scrapbook.com.

To begin, we will die cut two slimline panels using the Ai Slimline Die Set (5463) and the Ai Baby Girl Cover PP (6059). These beautiful pastel pattern papers will be perfect for this card and we can easily combine the Ai Baby Girl 6×6 PP so that everything will coordinate nicely.

For the white panel, we will use a 3D Polka Dot embossing folder from Scrapbook.com. This will give us a lot of dimension and interest.

We can assemble the two panels together and then die cut the party balloons using the LF Balloon Bunch Die Set. Using some rose-colored sparkle paper from Lawn Fawn we will die cut the outline of the balloons. We will select some more patterned papers to insert into the balloon in pink, lavender, and blue.

Next, we will die cut the “Let’s Celebrate” sentiment from pattern paper and layer it up with some additional white cardstock and then add some more of that sparkle paper and offset it a little bit. This will give a little shadow of glitter from behind the sentiment.

Assemble the balloons and sentiment and add some pretty sparkly sequins!

Let’s quickly decorate the inside of the card using a pink and white gingham paper. And using the left-over sparkle balloon from the balloon outline that we cut out earlier we will attach it to the inside of the card, just over top of the sentiment. Add a string to the balloon using a pretty purple gel pen.

We will also stamp a sentiment on the inside of the card using the LF Valentine Mice Set. This will say “Sending Love on this very special day”.

Christmas Train Slimline Card!

Today we are going to play with a wonderful brand-new stamp and die set from Art Impressions! This is the Ai Christmas Train Set (5929) which has a complete set of train cars, the engine, lots of little penguins, candy canes, holly, and two sentiments!

There is also an Ai Christmas Train Bundle Set (5975) available at a discounted bundled price and I have listed and linked that down below for you as well. This includes the Christmas Train Set (5929), Santa’s Workshop Set (5930), Santa Puppet Die Set (5931), Classic Christmas Paper Pack (5962), Classic Christmas Cover PP (5969). This is a great value that is chock full of fun stuff!

We are going to create a slimline card which will give us plenty of room to layout our adorable train! Let’s begin by stamping, coloring and die cutting all of our images. For the coloring we will be using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Sugared Almond Pink, Pink Flamingo, Yellow, Lt Green, May Green, Turquoise Green, Dk Green, Carmine Red, Cobalt Blue, Lt Blue, Sand, Lt Gray, Gray, Warm Gray 6.

To personalize the train cars and add some interest to the other images, we will use a white gel pen. We can add some polka dots, plaid and stitch marks to our train, some stripes to the candy canes and some details to the packages.

Next, let’s work on the layers of our card. We will use the Ai Slimline Die Set (5463) for our layers. And for the plaid background layer we will be using the Ai Christmas Magic Paper Pack (5853), however, this paper is only 6″ wide so we will need to piece this long panel together. I will show you an easy way to do this in today’s video!

For the next layer, we will die-cut a panel from white cardstock and create a pretty blue sky using a blending brush and the Distress Oxide Inks in Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon. Let’s also spatter the background with some white ink and clear glitter!

Next, we can die-cut another white panel and die-cut a snowy border from this panel. This will give us a nice place to tuck the train in behind the snow for a pretty, wintery look! And to connect the train cars we will be adding some red and white baker’s twine!

Let’s go ahead and assemble the card by gluing down some of the images and popping up some others with our dimensional foam squares.

For a few finishing touches we can add a bow with some red and white baker’s twine, some glossy accents to the holly berries and a bit more sparkle with our clear glitter pen!

Finally, we can stamp the sentiment on the outside and inside of the card from that same stamp set. I added the holly leaves and berries to the inside sentiment. This will tie everything together!

Slimline Shaker Card w/ Ai Hot Air Balloons!

Today’s card was inspired by the current Ai Blog Challenge called “Shake it Up!” and asks you to create a shaker card or have something that shakes, moves or even wobbles!

Let’s start by creating the basic design of our slimline card. To do this we will die cut a frame and center panel using the Ai Slimline Die Set (5463).

Now let’s get to the brand-new Ai Hot Air Balloon Set (5789) that we will be using today. This fun set includes several different sizes of the hot air balloons so that you can create some beautiful scenes with lots of perspective and interest.

We will stamp three of the large balloons onto the inside panel of our card. Let’s also stamp one more onto some Gina K. Masking Magic and cut this out using our detail scissors. This mask will be used when we stencil the clouds in the background. It will keep us from getting any color onto the balloons.

Next, we can temporarily place these two pieces back together so that we can stencil some pretty clouds in the background using the Lawn Fawn Cloudy Stencil. We will be using the Lisa Horton Crafts – Cloud 9 – Metallic Interference Ink Pad in Teal Twist for the clouds. This ink pad is so unique because of the interference nature of it which causes it to change color depending on the cardstock color it is place on. I will show you these differences in today’s video!

To add a bit more interest to the background we can add a few birds using the Lawn Fawn Beach Sunset Stencils and some Tim Holtz Black Soot ink.

Now we can color in the balloons using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Wine Red, Bright Yellow, Orange, Scarlet Red, Yellow, Aquamarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Smoky Teal, May Green, Green, Beige, Mid Brown, Cool Gray 3.

We will now add some pretty metallic accents using the Signo Gel Pens in Silver and Gold!

We can build our shaker card by adding some clear acetate to the frame and then adding some 3D Foam Tape (remember to double this up) around the edges of the center panel. Let’s place some pretty clear sequins inside the shaker area and assemble the card and add a few extra sequins to the outside of the shaker to bring everything together!

Next, we can add a few sentiments using the brand-new Ai Mini Birthday Sentiment Set (5866) and the Ai Birthday Sentiments Set (5735). We will stamp the sentiments onto some black cardstock and emboss with white embossing powder. We will die cut these sentiments using the Ai Flag Double Stitched Dies (5133). I’ll show you a little trick for adjusting your dies to fit your sentiment!

Sizzix “You are so cool” Card (using the Crazy Characters #2 Set)

I’ve got a super fun summer card to show you today! This sweet Popsicle card will be created using the Sizzix Thinlits w/ Stamps – Crazy Characters #2 Set. This cute set includes the popsicle, a volcano, and a beautiful sun!

Let’s start by inking up some cardstock for our Popsicle colors using the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pads in Shaded Lilac, Salvaged Patina, Squeezed Lemonade, Kitsch Flamingo. For the Popsicle stick we will be using Antique Linen.

What makes this die set so easy to use is that it cuts out the base of the Popsicle as well as the layers and sprinkles (aka shots!).

We will die cut the layers from all of the pretty pastel papers that we colored and then mix and match them for the little Popsicles. If you want to create the look of a little bite being taken from one of the Popsicles you can go ahead and do this now using a scalloped circle die from the Sizzix Framelits w/ Stamps – Circle Sentiments Set.

Next we can add the sprinkles and then add some clear glaze over the top to give them the look of being frozen. While the glaze is still wet we can add a bit of glitter for some added interest!

For the base of the card we will die cut two stitched panels from the Lawn Fawn Slimline Stackables Dies. The largest one will get colored using the same 4 pastel colors we used previously and then with the smaller panel we will emboss this using the Sizzix 3-D Textured Impresssions – Tropical Leaves embossing folder.

On this embossed panel we will be adding some baker’s twine in those same pastel colors and tying a knot on the front of the panel.

For the larger panel we can add a sentiment from this same stamp set that says “You are so” and next we can die cut the work “cool” from the Sizzix Thinlits – Essential Type alphabet set. We can add some of that same glaze to the letters to give them the same glossy shine as the Popsicles!

Let’s assemble our fun summery card! This card can be used for so many occasions including birthday, hello, and thinking of you cards!

Birdhouse Cubbies Slimline Card – Adding Dimension without Pop-Dots, Gems or Bows!!!

Today’s was inspired by the current Ai Blog Challenge and that was to create a birthday card to celebrate Bonnie’s birthday! Please feel free to join us in this blog challenge by posting your card or project that has a birthday theme….any birthday theme will do! I’m sure Bonnie would love to see what you create to celebrate her special day!

Today we will be creating a fun slimline card using the Ai Birdhouse Cubbies Set (5346). This adorable set includes a beautiful birdhouse, birds, flowers, a vine and several fun sentiments! An added bonus is that this set does include the dies! You will love how the birdhouse die cuts out the window openings and the doors on the birdhouse which make this image very interactive!

For this card I decided to add an additional challenge for myself which was to create a one layer card that would have lots and lots of texture, dimension and interest without adding any ribbons, bows, gems or pop-dots! I will give you some tips and tricks for doing this in today’s video.

Let’s get started by stamping and coloring all of our images using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Sugared Almond Pink, Pale Orange, Yellow, Orange, Scarlet Red, Mid Green, Dark Green, Aquamarine Blue, Smoky Teal, Beige, Gray Brown, Mid Brown, Lt Gray. Once the coloring is complete we can die cut all of the images.

Next let’s create a frame for the decorated card panel to sit inside by using the Ai Slimline Dies Set (5463). To set the scene for this card panel we will add some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink in Speckled Egg and then we will spatter the panel with the same ink and also some teal colored metallic watercolor paint!

Going back to the same stamp set we will stamp our cute sentiment on the front of the card and this says “A little birdie told me it was your birthday”. This set has several cute coordinating sentiments!

Let’s cut off the post on the birdhouse so that it looks like it is hanging from a tree branch. We will use a black permanent marker to create the ribbon for the birdhouse and then draw on a cute little bow. Now we can add all of our little birds, flowers and vines….again gluing everything flat….but you could certainly pop some items up if you wish!

So hopefully you can see how easy it is to add lots of interest and dimension to your cards by using a variety of fun and creative techniques!

Alcohol Pearl Ink Blending – Spring Floral Slimline Card!

Today we will be creating a pretty slimline card using the Scrapbook.com Spring Floral Die! This slimline die is just gorgeous! It cuts out flowers, vines, and butterflies which can be used to create a second card. So it’s sort of a two for one die!

We will die cut this from some white 100lb cardstock and for the background we will be using some beautiful Tim Holtz Alcohol Pearl Inks!

Let’s start our background using some Ranger Alcohol Yupo Paper. This will allow our inks to blend more easily. We will use a combination of pretty colors.

First, we will add some alcohol blending solution to the Yupo paper and then we can add several drops of inks in a variety of colors. Now we can move this ink around using the Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink – Air Blower. This is very easy to use … just squeeze and it will easily move the ink around the paper. I’ll show you exactly how to do this in today’s video!

We can cut down the slimline panel and add our alcohol ink background and then add a layer of aqua colored cardstock. This will make the colors of the background pop out a bit more!

Now let’s layer this onto a slimline card in white 100lb cardstock.

Next we can add a “hello” sentiment using the Scrapbook.com Cards for Kindness Stamp Set. For the sentiment we will stamp it with Versamark Watermark Ink and emboss it with some white embossing powder onto some vellum paper.

Let’s use one of the white butterflies that was cut out of the die and add a second one with some vellum paper and glue these two together for added dimension.

Finally, we can add a light blue heart shaped gem from the Dress My Craft Heart Droplet Collection in Pastel Blue in the center of the butterfly.

Art Impressions Lawn Ranger Slimline Card

Let’s have some fun today by creating a special masculine birthday card! We will be using the adorable Ai The Lawn Ranger Set (4102) to create this little scene. In addition to this set I thought it would be great to add a few more elements to this fun loving lawn mower man card! I thought he needed his loyal friend on the front of the mower and a flag on the back from the (Ai Enjoy the Ride Set -5186) and a drink from the (Ai Travel Accessories Set – 5508), a cute little bird looking on from the (Ai On the Sparrow Set – 5170). Let’s also add some fencing using the Ai WC Fence Dies (4967).

To create our sunshiny sky we will be using a stencil and some Distress Oxide Inks in Crackling Campfire, Wild Honey, and Scattered Straw! Next I’ll show you how I created this perfectly mowed lawn using some temporary tape and a few more Distress Oxide Inks in Twisted Citron and Rustic Wilderness.

This guy mowing the lawn actually looks like he would be a lot of fun to have around!  What guy wouldn’t love to receive this adorable card??? The sentiment that comes with the set says “Happy Birthday to the “Lawn Ranger”…..love that!!!

We will then place our scene on a slimline card using the Ai Slimline Dies Set (5463). Just have some fun digging through all of your sets to see what you might want to add to your fun “Lawn Ranger” scene.

All of the coloring was done using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Sugared Almond Pink, Tea Rose, Flesh Color, Orange, Deep Vermillion, Smoky Teal, Lt Gray, Beige, Lt Brown, Gray, Dk Brown.

File Folder Tab Card – “Hot Mess”

In todays video we will be playing with the brand new Ai Hot Mess Laugh Lines Set (5518)! This exhausted and overwhelmed little lady has so many fun sentiments to go along with her….but the one that caught my eye right away was the one that says “My brain has too many tabs open”. This made me think of a file folder design as soon as I laid eyes on it!

This design will give us a chance to use both the We R Memory Keepers Tab Punch Board and the Envelope Punch Boards to create this fun card! We can place several fun sentiments on each of the tabs. I will show you how to create the tabs and how to use your envelope punch board to create the file folder! This is a simple way to create this design without a lot of measuring and extra steps.

It is easiest if you select a pretty double-sided paper design that measures 12″x12″. That way the inside and outside of your file folder will both have a pretty pattern. You can always stamps and decorate your own patterned paper design if you wish!

I will give you the simple measurements for the card insert and the layers for your card. The finished card will be a mini slimline size!

For a finishing touch we will add a few shiny silver metallic gems on the front of the file folder!

Art Impressions Patriotic Barnyard Cubbies – Slimline Card!

Let’s create a fun patriotic slimline barnyard card today! This would make a terrific 4th of July celebration card but since I have a few family and friends with birthdays around the holiday I was thinking that this would be a perfect Birthday Card design! We will be using the Ai Barnyard Animal Cubbies (5180) which includes these cute little critters, the interactive barn, a country fence and a few cute coordinating sentiments! The dies are included with this set which will make it so easy to cut out these images.

To add a few additional elements, we will be using the banner from the Ai Floral Truck Set and for the balloons and flag we will use the Ai Enjoy the Ride Set (5186)! This is a great way to mix and match your sets to create a custom scene!

To set the scene for our card we will be creating a pretty sun rays background using a stencil and an ink blending brush for a soft blended sky! We will then do some more ink blending to create the grassy border.

We will stamp and color all of the images using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Yellow, Bright Yellow, Orange, Lt Pink, Deep Red, Beige, Lt Brown, Lt Gray, Gray Brown, Dark Gray, Blue Gray, Deep Blue.

This card was inspired by the new Ai Blog Challenge!  This one is called “Zoo Crew” which is to create a project that has an animal on it!
