I’ve got an easy and fun project for you today! We will be creating some pretty bookmarks using the brand new Ai Whimsical Flowers Set (5797). This pretty little floral stamp set will coordinate with all of your watercolor journal dies and stamps.
This card was inspired by the current Ai Blog Challenge called “Feeling Blue”. For this challenge you can create any project that feature blues…any blue color will do! Please join us in this fun challenge by submitting your project….we would love to see what you create!
Let’s begin by die cutting our bookmarks onto some Strathmore Bristol Smooth 100lb Cardstock using the Ai Journal Cover & Bookmark Die Set (5723). This set has several dies that can be used to create your journal pages and some fun borders. It also includes two bookmark dies that we will be using today!
We can stamp a nice selection of flowers onto the bottom of each bookmark using the Versafine Onyx Black ink and then begin our coloring.
The coloring will be done using the beautiful Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Pencil Sets. These pencils are so easy to use and the colors coordinate with all of the other Tim Holtz products that you may already have in your stash….the ink pads, sprays, paints, etc.
I’ll give you a few different ideas for how to use these pencils to get a variety of looks!
Next let’s add some color around the edges of each bookmark using the Distress Oxide Inks in Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean. We can also spatter the bookmarks for a bit more interest.
Now we can add some stitching around the edges using a permanent black pen.
Finally let’s tie on some baker’s twine in the coordinating colors. These would be a great gift for your favorite reader along with a good book!
