CHRISTMAS IN JULY – Layering Stencils, Vellum, and Rub-on Techniques – Snowflake!

I’ve got some fun CHRISTMAS IN JULY vellum overlay cards to show you today! We will be using the wonderful Hero Arts “Snowflake” Layering Stencil Set to create an elegant background. This video is sort of a Part Two to another video I did recently using the Hero Arts “Poinsettia” Layering Stencil Set, and I will link that down below for you if you would like to check that out!

Let’s begin by die-cutting a rectangle from some white cardstock and a second panel using some blue cardstock. To die-cut the panels we will be using the Hero Arts Infinity Rectangle Die Set. Now we can begin our stenciling. This Hero Arts Stencil is a 4-part layering stencil. For both of these cards we will be using the Hero Arts Core Inks in several pretty blue tones. So we will use the same colors, however, by changing the cardstock base color we will get two completely different looks!

I’ll show you exactly how I inked these stencils in today’s video and give you some easy tricks and tips for adding color and blending.

Once the stenciling is complete, we will cut the vellum overlay. To do this, we will simply cut a strip of vellum paper approximately 2 3/4″ by 5 1/2″. Next, let’s add some fun Hero Arts “Joyful Christmas Messages” Hero Transfers to each of the cards in the coordinating colors. This set of transfers has tons of sentiments to choose from! We can also complete the inside of each of the cards with these same transfers/rub-ons.

Now simply tear the edges of the vellum and secure it with some double-sided tape on the backside of the snowflake panel. This will hide the adhesive really well!

For a bit more interest and dimension, let’s add some Hero Arts Hero Hues – Enamel Dots around each of the sentiments.

As a finishing touch, we can add some pretty white sparkly snowflakes using some glitter paper. Let’s also add some of the Hero Hues Pearls in white to the center of each of the snowflakes!

I’ve got some fun CHRISTMAS IN JULY vellum overlay cards to show you today! We will be using the wonderful Hero Arts “Poinsettia Pattern” Layering Stencil Set to create an elegant background.

Let’s begin by creating our standard A2 size top-folding card base and begin our stenciling. This Hero Arts Stencil is a 4-part layering stencil. For the first card we will be using some pretty pinks and turquoise colors and for the second card we will use some yellow/orange/red and green colors. The inks I will be using today are the Vicki Boutin Color Wheels in the warm and cool tones. The inks in the color wheel will be so easy to use and the pie shape ink pads will make it easier to do some simple color shadowing and layering.

I’ll show you exactly how I inked these stencils in today’s video and give you some easy tricks and tips for adding color and blending.

Once the stenciling is complete, we will add the vellum overlay. To do this, we will simply fold the vellum over the top of the entire card base and secure it with some double-sided tape at the very top of the front of the card. Now to hide that tape under the vellum, we will add a strip of sparkly washi tape onto the vellum panel.

Next, let’s add some fun Hero Arts “Joyful Christmas Messages” Hero Transfers to each of the cards in the coordinating colors. This set of transfers has tons of sentiments to choose from! We will also complete the inside of each of the cards with these same transfers/rub-ons.

For a bit more interest and dimension, let’s add some Hero Arts Hero Hues – Enamel Dots around each of the sentiments.

As a finishing touch, we can add some baker’s twine in the coordinating color and add a pretty bow!

Hero Arts Interlocking Gatefold Card w/ Diamond Dies and Layering Stencils!

Let’s create an elegant Interlocking Gatefold card today using lots and lots of products from Hero Arts!

To get started, we can take the beautiful Hero Arts Color Layering Stencils – Tulip Bouquet Set. This set contains 4 layers of stencils so that we can easily do the coloring and shading with our blending brushes and ink pads!

Let’s grab a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock to do our blending. We will be using the Hero Arts Small Blending Brushes for this stenciling process and the ink colors today will be using the Hero Arts Core Inks in Green Apple, Fresh Lawn, Pine, Dandelion, Butter Bar and Papaya. These colors will blend together beautifully! We can also quickly spatter these flowers with these same inks!

Now we can begin creating the interlocking mechanism for the front of the card. To do this we will use the fantastic Hero Arts – Infinity Diamond Dies. We will create a frame with these dies by using the largest die and the next smaller die and cut these out 3 times. By gluing the 3 diamonds together we will have a nice solid frame for the interlocking feature! We can also cut the tulips from the smaller diamond die, and this will fit perfectly inside the frame!

Next, we can get started building the card base for our gatefold card and cutting the layers for the card. I’ll show you all of the measurements for cutting and scoring in today’s video!

Now that we have our layering papers cut, we can start the stenciling on these layers. We will be using the Hero Arts – Stencil Square – Stripe! This is a stencil that can be used in a variety of ways but today we will do some simple stenciling using the Dandelion ink and then add ink around the edges with the Papaya ink.

Let’s glue the layers to the inside of the card base and front panels.

Now for the fun part…. let’s add the tulips on the card by gluing only the right-hand side of the diamond and gluing it to the right panel on the card. Next, we can place glue on only the left-hand side of the diamond frame and glue it to the left panel of the card. Be sure to line this up really well with the tulips that you have already glued down.

We can now stamp a few sentiments by using the Hero Arts – Togetherness Flower Bouquet Stamp Set. This set has some absolutely beautiful sentiments and script for all of your cards! y and add an elegant touch to the card!

Hero Arts Peonies Bunch – Coloring w/ Distress Watercolor Pencils

Let’s get started by stamping this beautiful image from the Hero Arts Peonies Bunch Stamp Set and we can also grab the coordinating die set! There is a stencil set available for some easy coloring, however, we are going to do the coloring ourselves using the Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Pencils in the following colors: Picket Fence, Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, Rustic Wilderness, Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron, Fired Brick. These pencils come in three beautiful sets and are fun and easy to use!

The coloring will take a little bit of time but it is well worth it. But do keep in mind that you could use the coordinating stencil as mentioned above. I’ll show you a few tricks and tips for using these pencils and I’ll also show you how to do an easy highlighting technique!

To create the background we will be stamping the Hero Arts “Script” Bold Prints Stamp onto some Hero Arts Cardstock in Paradise and then embossing it with some white embossing powder. This background stamp is a great staple to have in your stash!

Now we can use a blending brush to go around the edges of this panel with some Hero Arts Reactive Ink in Blue Raspberry. Let’s also spatter this panel with that same ink and also some white ink. While we have the white ink out, let’s also spatter the flowers, to tie everything together!

Next, we can stamp the “Thank you” sentiment from that same stamp set onto some vellum paper and emboss with the white embossing powder.

We can assemble the vellum sentiment strip to this panel and pop-up the flowers with some 3D Foam Tape.

Finally, let’s add some Hero Arts – Hero Pearls in white for added interest and dimension!

Shaving Cream Marbling Technique to create Hero Arts Bulb Ornaments!

Let’s get started by creating some beautiful marble backgrounds using some shaving cream…. yes shaving cream!!! If you have never done this before you are going to get a kick out of this fun and easy process. I’ll show you exactly what to do in today’s video. It’s a bit messy…. but lots of fun!

To do the marbling we will be using the Hero Arts Liquid Watercolor and the Glimmer Metallic Inks. These bottles have a dropper applicator so it will make this product very easy to use.

Now we can die cut some ornaments from this marble paper using the Hero Arts Infinity Dies – Bulb Ornaments in a few different sizes. This will give our ornaments a very unique look! We can use these same dies to die cut the topper in some pretty metallic silver cardstock.

Next, we will add a sentiment to each of the ornaments using the Peace, Love, and Joy from the Hero Arts Ornament Peek-a-boo Infinity Parts set. We will emboss these sentiments using some “Liquid Platinum” embossing powder.

Next, we can create the background for the card using the Hero Arts Bold Prints 6″x6″ – Starry Night Brushstroke stamp. We will ink it using a clear embossing ink and then we will emboss it using the Hero Arts – White Satin Pearl embossing powder. Then we will add some pretty ink around the edges using the Hero Hues Ink Cube in Summer Sky. Let’s also spatter this background with some white paint for a snowy effect!

Let’s also ink the edges of the ornaments using the Hero Hues Ink Cube in Cotton Candy! We can add some pretty blue twine to each ornament and pop up the ornaments with some foam adhesive squares.

Next, we will die cut a pretty branch to hang our ornaments using the Tim Holtz “Holiday Greens” die set. Let’s die cut several of these branches and then glue them together for added dimension! Now we can add some Hero Paste in White Pearl for a pearlized snowy look!

Let’s quickly assemble the card and add a few of the Hero Arts Hero Hues Clear Enamel Dots onto the background, tie a pretty bow and add a few gems to the branch for a beautiful sparkle!

Hero Arts Layering Stencil w/ Paste, Glimmer, Lacquer!

Let’s create some pretty tags or tag cards using a beautiful Hero Arts Layering “O Christmas Tree” Stencil Set! This set includes 4 stencils that can be used to create the most dimensional tree with ornaments, garland and a pretty star! Please note that there is a matching “O Christmas Tree” Stamp Set which I have linked below if you are interested in that as well.

To get started we can die cut a stitched tag using the Ai Tag Stitched Dies (5132) Set. We will be doing a white tag and a kraft tag. I think you will enjoy seeing the difference between the two tags by using the same ink colors!

Next, we can start the stenciling using the Hero Arts Mini Cube Inks and a small Hero Arts blending brush. We will start with some Pine ink for the first layer. For layer number two we can use the Fresh Lawn ink. To do the garland we will use the Cranberry and Crimson. And the last layer are the little ornaments which will be done in a variety of colors. These colors are all listed below.

Now we can stamp the Hero Arts Bold Prints “Script” Cling Stamp using the Tim Holtz Gathered Twigs. This is one of my go-to stamps for creating a pretty background on your cards and tags.

Next, we can use the blending brush and some Tim Holtz Walnut Stain ink to go around the edges of the tag.

To tie the background together we will be spattering each tag with the Hero Arts Glimmer Metallic Inks in Gold and Pewter and the Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bleed Proof White ink.

On the white tag we will be adding some Hero Arts White Pearl Paste to the garland. This will add some fun dimension and a pretty pearl finish.

On both tags we can add the Hero Arts Lacquer Pen Sparkle Clear on each of the ornaments. This again will add dimension and interest to the ornaments.

We can die cut some pretty stars using the same die set we used to create the tag. These will also be in the gold and silver.

Finally, let’s add a pretty Pinkfresh Studio Metallic Pearl to each of the stars in Matte Gold and Silver and some sparkly twine to each of the tags!

Now you can leave these as a simple tag or create a tag card…and I will show you how to do this in today’s video!

Hero Arts Holly Berries Ornament Card w/ Prismacolor Pencils on Black Cardstock

Today we will be creating a beautiful ornament card using the Hero Arts Bulb Ornament Infinity Die Set and the Hero Arts Holly Berries Clear Stamp Set. This set does have a coordinating die set which I will list and link down below.

To set the scene, we will create a gorgeous green background using the Tim Holtz 3D Texture Fades (Pine Branches) Embossing Folder. Then we can add some color with the TH Distress Oxide Ink in Rustic Wilderness on green cardstock. Next, we can spatter the entire background with some white gesso…this will give the card a snowy look.

After we die cut the ornament we can stamp and emboss the image with the Liquid Platinum embossing powder. We will stamp this a few times in order to fill in the entire ornament.

For coloring, we will be using our Prismacolor Pencils on some black cardstock in the following colors: Chartruese, Olive, Creme, Orange, Rose, Magenta, White. This will give the ornament a beautiful and elegant look! I’ll give you a few tips and tricks for coloring with these easy to use pencils.

We can add a pretty black glitter topper to the ornament and a cute bow!

Hero Arts Happy Holidays Cover Plate – Shaker Card!

Today we will be creating this fun and elegant shaker card using the Hero Arts Holidays Cover Plate Die! This die will cut out the entire sentiment with just one pass through your die cutting machine…so it’s super simple and easy to use! It will cut out the negative images, but be sure to keep those positive pieces for a future project. This die can be placed anywhere on your project and will only cut out the sentiment so that you can place this on any size card or journal. We will be cutting the Cover Plate with some sparkly glitter paper!

To create the background for our shaker we will be using the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Sprays, as well as, the Tim Holtz Distress Mica Stains. We will be using the Christmas Set #3 which includes Fresh Balsam, Tart Cranberry and Winter Frost. These are absolutely beautiful!

Let’s assemble the shaker element of our card by adding some pretty clear glitter and sparkly embellishments.

To complete our simple and elegant theme we will stamp with the beautiful Holly Berry Stamp from the Hero Arts Collection and then emboss with some white embossing powder. There is also a coordinating die set available and I will list and link that down below!

Finally, we will add just a bit of color to the holly and berry image using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in Aquamarine Blue and Smoky Teal.

Hero Arts Valentine Card w/ Glimmer Paste

In todays card and video we will be creating an elegant yet fun Valentine’s Day Card using a beautiful Hero Arts “Bursting with Love” background stamp and the elegant “Mandala Swirl” stencil.

To create a glittery backdrop for our card we will be using a wonderful Nuvo Glimmer Paste in a pretty raspberry color with our stencil. We will also create a white on white background with this bold stamp!

We will keep the colors very simple with Black, White and Raspberry to let our textured backgrounds make a statement!
