Bringing Die Cuts To Life w/ Ink Blending & Stencils!

Let’s create a fun, happy, and whimsical Halloween card today using our die cuts and a really fun stencil!

To begin we will stencil a square background panel using the wonderful Brutus Monroe Glow in the Dark Stencil. For inks we will use the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks in the following colors: Peeled Paint, Mustard Seed, and Carved Pumpkin. We will use these same colors throughout this project.

Next, we can die cut the pumpkin using the Scrapbook.com Nested Pumpkin Dies. Let’s also grab some little sprigs and a bow from the Scrapbook.com Build-a-Bouquet Dies. Now for the easy and fun part…we will color these die cuts using those same inks that we used before and bring these die cuts to life. We will also add a bit of the TH Distress Oxide Ink in Ground Espresso for more shadowing. This is a great way to add interest, color and dimension without too much effort!

For the jack-o-lantern face let’s go back to that same stencil and select our favorite face and the one that fits best for the size of pumpkin that you have chosen. I chose to use the TH Distress Oxide Ink in Ground Espresso rather than black so that this pumpkin would stay on the happy and bright side.

Now we need a pretty frame, and we will be using the Scrapbook.com Nested Stitched Stamp Dies and some glitter cardstock. We will stack three of these frames together and pop it up on the card with some 1/8″ foam strips.

Next, we can take the smaller banner die from the Scrapbook.com Nested Wide Arches Dies and stamp the “Happiest Halloween” sentiment. This sentiment is from the Art Impressions Spooky Crew Set (5934).

Now we can assemble the card and add a few fall-colored sequins around the greenery!

Charming Thanksgiving Card w/ Nested Pumpkin Dies!

Let’s create a fun, unique and charming Thanksgiving card using the Scrapbook.com Nested Pumpkin Dies! We will begin by die cutting the three smallest pumpkins and the coordinating stems. For paper we will be using the Art Impressions Pastel Meadows Paper Pack. I think that these papers give the look of fancy porcelain …if that makes any sense!

To begin, we will die cut the pumpkins using the Scrapbook.com Nested Pumpkin Dies using some cream-colored cardstock. We will ink blend the stems with some green and some beige ink around the edges of the pumpkins as well. Let’s also add a bit more definition to the stems using a permanent sepia marker.

For the frame we will use the Scrapbook.co Nested A2 Arches Dies. Once we have centered and die cut the arch we can ink around the edges of this frame as well. We can attach the polka dot frame to some pink striped paper and spatter these with some gold metallic ink. This will add a beautiful shimmer!

Next, we will cut a piece of kraft colored corrugated cardstock and tear it along the edges on an angle. This will fit nicely into the left corner of the frame. Before we attach this to the frame we can ink the corrugated paper with that same beige ink. Let’s also add some pretty twine in a dusty rose color and tie a bow.

Before we assemble anything else, let’s stamp a sweet sentiment at the top and center of the frame. Now we can attach the corrugated paper to the frame and then add the pumpkins.

Let’s also add some sparkly gold sequins and a few sweet little butterflies. We can add a bit of that same gold metallic ink on the centers of the butterflies and fold them on the score lines for some added dimension.

We will again take the brown marker and draw a few lines and dots in the upper right-hand corner for added interest. Let’s also add some white ink spattering to the entire card to brighten everything up!

We could stop at this point, however as I looked at this card I decided I wanted the sentiment to be darker and also to be popped up. So, I restamped it in a darker ink and die cut it with a small oval die. Then we can place it directly over the sentiment that we had previously stamped. But it certainly would have been just fine the way it was…. I just couldn’t stop myself!
