Must Try Embossing Folder Technique w/ Tim Holtz Stash!

Discover creative techniques to add depth and dimension to your projects using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Texture Fades “Vault Gears” embossing folder. After embossing your panel, apply Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks with a blending brush for a smooth, colorful base. To finish, highlight the raised textures by scraping a selection of Distress Oxide Inks and Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink directly onto the high spots for a striking, multi-dimensional effect.

Apply a layer of embossable ink and then add Tim Holtz Embossing Glaze in Rusty Hinge. Once heat-set, the glaze will provide a beautiful, translucent finish that allows the underlying details to show through.

Next, spatter Black Soot ink and Tim Holtz Distress Spritz in Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo onto the panel. These will create an elegant shimmer that blends perfectly with the previously applied colors. Finally, ink the edges of the panel with Black Soot before layering it onto a card base using Distress Kraft Heavystock.

Stamp the dragonfly using the TH Classics 1 Stamp Set. This versatile set also includes a pear and a compass, both of which would work beautifully for this project. Next, add color to the dragonfly using Distress Inks and fussy cut the image. Finally, blend a small amount of ink around the edges to soften the cream-colored border for a professional finish.

To create the center of the dragonfly, secure a pen nib in place using E6000 adhesive. Next, apply 3D foam squares and a touch of twine to the back of the dragonfly before mounting it onto the card. Finally, embellish your design with ephemera, gears, gems, stickers, and a quote chip.

To finish, add one final spatter of bright white ink to unify the entire composition.

We are going to create two beautiful floral bouquets using the Scrapbook.com Build-A-Bouquet Dies and the Scrapbook.com Bouquet Picks. These two die sets are designed to coordinate nicely together, and the added bouquet pics gives you lots and lots of options for all different seasons and holidays!

In today’s video, I will show you how to cut, color, and assemble these pretty flowers. We will create two different designs, one with a paper wrap around the bouquet and the other will look like it is tied together with a bow!

The two we are making today will be layered onto a thick base that will allow these to sit up nicely on a little easel. Great as not only a card but a little gift as well.

For the background, we will be using the Scrapbook.com Polka Dots 3D Embossing Folder. This is a go-to embossing folder, especially for me, because I absolutely love polka dots!

For the frame, we will be using the Scrapbook.com Nested Stitched Stamps Dies. These are great for your postal style cards, but I think they are also perfect to create an interesting frame for you cards.

Let’s go ahead and assemble all of the layers and our pretty bouquets and add a few sparkly gems for added interest!

Center Flap – Hydrangea Margin Card!

Today we will be using the brand-new Ai Hydrangea Margin Stamp Set (6219). This set contains two stamps, and one is the reverse of the other, which is great for you journal and scrapbook pages, and cards like the one we will be creating today. This way you can place one on each side of your page or card for a really great look!

We will be stamping the images onto two white panels and coloring them in using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Sugared Almond Pink, Pink, English Lavender, Lt Violet, Yellow, Lt Green, Green. We can just mix up the colors for a nice variety of flowers on each panel.

Keep in mind that all of the measurements for the card and all of the layers will be in the video for your convenience!

Let’s cut and layer all of the panels, using a black licorice cardstock and add the colored panels to each side of the card.

For the “Congrats” sentiment we will be using the Dare-2B-Artzy Congrats Vertical Die. I love this die because it’s perfect for this card and any card that requires a vertical sentiment….and they are a little harder to find. To really make this pop out on the card we will do a watercolor wash onto some white cardstock, in the same markers that we used to color the flowers, that way everything will match perfectly. Once the wash is done, you can heat set the panel and go ahead and die cut the sentiment. We will also die cut three additional ones and glue them all together for a nice thick embellishment!

Let’s glue this on the center of the front flap and a few sparkly gems on the black panel and scattered around the floral images!

We will also stamp two sentiments on the inside of the card using the Ai Birthday Sentiment Set (5735) and the Ai Mini Birthday Sentiments Set (5866).

For a finishing touch, let’s add a thin satin ribbon in green to bring in some of that greenery on the two panels! You could easily change the look of these same floral panels by changing the layering color from black to pink, lavender or even a pretty metallic cardstock color. Just have some fun….

Easy Birdie Corner Bookmarks!

We are going to have so much fun today creating these adorable little Birdie Corner Bookmarks! This is the Ai Corner Bird Bookmark Die Set (6209) and it includes all of the dies that you would need to create these two-sided bookmarks. These are so easy to make that once you make one you won’ t be able to stop!

These would be great for your bible journaling pages, journal pages, or even a scrapbook page!

Let’s go ahead and die cut all of the pieces from a variety of patterned papers. I will be using the Ai Fairy Garden PP (5939) and the Ai Floral Shop PP (6205) today.

Once we have everything die cut, we can go ahead and put these cute little birdies together and I will show you exactly how o do that in today’s video!

Christmas Elf Puppet Tag!

Let’s have some fun creating a “Christmas in July” tag today using the adorable Ai Elf Puppet Set! This die set includes all of the dies needed to create the cute little elf. We will be die cutting all of our pieces from some white Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock and then coloring them in using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Flesh Colour, Tea Rose, May Green, Deep Red, Beige, Mid Brown, Gray. You could also use some colored cardstock, or some patterned papers if you prefer.

To create the eyes on this little elf I am going to “cheat” a little bit by using the Ai Easter Bunny Puppet Set (5869). To do this we can mask off the bunny stamp and only stamp the eyes! I’ll show you how I did this in the video. This is a great way to add the facial features if you are not sure how to add these on your own. However, I did use a permanent marker to draw in the nose and mouth.

I’ll show you how easy it is to assemble the elf in today’s video and then we will create a pretty tag base using a few different sizes of tag dies and some patterned papers from the Ai Christmas S2 PP (5812).

Now, let’s do some spattering with white ink for the look of a snowy background. Just be sure to cover the face with a piece of scrap paper before you begin the spattering so that you don’t ruin that pretty face that you spent some time on!

Next, we will add some details and highlights using a white gel pen. I like to add polka dots… so I added some to the hat and shoes!

For a few finishing touches we will add some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen to the cuffs of the jacket and to the hat. We will also add some pretty gems for a bit more sparkle and some baker’s twine in red, green, and white to the top of the tag!

This elf die set would be great for your journals, scrapbook pages, cards and so much more!

Quick Personal Update!

Hello Friends!

As you may or may not know, I have decided to take a break from being on a design team for now. So although I will not be on the Art Impressions Design Team going forward, I will still be doing lots of videos that will include Art Impressions wonderful stamps and dies!

I was on the Ai Design Team for several years and I absolutely loved every minute. I was truly honored to have worked with so many wonderful artists. I have been asked and I am planning on being a guest artist in the future so you will see me on their website from time to time.

So, the bottom line is that I am not going away, I am going to continue to create plenty of cards, projects, and videos. I will now have a bit more time to focus on some other projects and products that I have been wanting to share with you all.

Many, many thanks to all of you for your continued support and kind comments. It is always my pleasure to share my projects with you in the hope that it inspires you to create something fun as well!

Many years ago, when I had my own rubber stamping and scrapbooking business, I truly enjoyed teaching classes and doing demos to show and highlight new projects and ideas! When I closed the shop, I still wanted an outlet to share these things with all of you… and my blog and YouTube channel allow me to do this in the best way possible.

Pretty Pocket Cards – Two Ways!

Today I would like to show you how to create a simple pocket style card in two different ways. To begin, we will die cut a circle from the Ai Nested Circle Dies (5726) and a heart from the Ai Nested Heart Dies (5721) using some white 100lb cardstock.

Next, we will stamp our images onto the heart and circle using the Ai His Love Set (6150). We will also be using the little cluster of hearts and the little branch from this same set.

Once we have stamped the images, we can color them using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Sugared Almond Pink, Bright Yellow, Haze Blue, Mint Leaf, Blue Green. Let’s also add some ink around the edges of these items using some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Picked Raspberry.

Let’s use some pretty patterned papers to create the pockets for our cards using the Ai Valentine Series 2 Cover PP (6182) and the Ai Valentines Cover PP (6022). These double-sided papers in the larger 6″x 9″ size will be perfect for the pockets. I will give you all of the dimensions for cutting and scoring in today’s video.

To each of the pockets, we will die cut a scalloped circle from the Ai Scalloped Circle Dies (6045) and a scalloped heart from the Ai Nested Heart Dies (5721). Don’t forget to keep the die cut pieces so that you can attach them to the stamped images.

We will then create the card inserts using some Ballet Slipper and Ocean Breeze cardstock and add a layer of white cardstock with the edges inked with that same Picked Raspberry ink that we used previously and to the other panel we will use Speckled Egg and Peacock Feathers.

Now we will die-cut a lovely, scalloped border using the Ai BJ Decorative Margin Dies (5972) and let’s also quickly stamp these with our sentiments from the Ai Encouragement Sentiment Set (5949). Let’s also stamp the sentiments on the card panels.

Next, place the heart and circle pieces onto the card panels by inserting the card panel all the way into the pocket and then attaching the shapes through those openings…this is a really easy way to line these up perfectly every time!

And we can also die-cut a little tab from the Ai Storybook Template Dies (6121) in the coordinating patterned paper and add these to the side and top of our card panels. We will also tie on a bit of pretty velvet ribbon to each tab.

Finally, we can add a few sparkly gems in coordinating colors to the front of the pockets!

Scalloped Tri-fold “Princess” Card!

I’m excited to be the featured artist for the brand-new Ai “Architecture” Blog Challenge which is to include anything architectural in your card or project. This can include houses, barns, cottages, or even a castle like we will be using today!

To make this trifold card design really easy we will be using the Ai Tryfolds Cards and Envelopes Pack and add a pretty scalloped border to each flap on the card using the Scrapbook.com Variety Edges Dies. There are several edge dies to choose from in this set…so pick the one you like best!

We will also add some beautiful, patterned papers to the two front flaps and the inside panel of the card. To do this we will be using the Ai Floral Shop PP 6205). I’ll show you in today’s video how to easily line these up to create the double scalloped edge on your card. The double-sided paper packs are perfect for mixing and matching the layers on your cards.

Next, we can stamp the cute little castle using the Ai Woodland Castle Set (5916) and quickly color it in using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Lt Pink, Pink, Sage Green, Aquamarine Blue, Gray Tint, Lt Beige, Beige. Now, using our detail scissors, we can fussy cut the castle.

Let’s also stamp our sweet “Princess” sentiments on the second flap and the inside panel of the card.

Now we can add our patterned papers, but before we add the focal image, we will add some Dusty Rose twine around the card for a pretty closure. To do this we will cut another panel from some white cardstock and sandwich the twine between these two layers. This will also thicken up the card a bit more and keep the twine from falling off when the card is opened by the recipient.

For the castle we will die cut two scalloped circles from the Ai Scalloped Circles Die Set (6045). This will coordinate nicely with the scallops on the flaps. Add your castle image and pop it up with some 3D Foam Squares.

Finally, let’s add some pretty sequins and tie a bow!

Fourth of July Patriotic Pop-up Box Card!

Today we will be creating a super fun and patriotic card to celebrate America’s 250th! We will be creating a fun Pop-up card design with lots and lots of red, white and blue!

This card was inspired by the current Ai “Enjoy the Ride” Blog Challenge. This challenge is to include anything you can ride in your card or project. This includes bicycles, cars, trucks, trains, wagons, wheelbarrows, scooters, skateboards, boats, airplanes and anything else you can think of that you can ride on!

Let’s begin by stamping our images. The bicycle is from the Ai Cottage Charm Set (6179) and the other items including the flags, plaques, and flowers are from the Ai Front Porch Patriotic Set (5494). All of the coloring will be done using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Lt Pink, Wine Red, Carmine Red, Hazee Blue, Persian Blue, Blue, Oatmeal, Beige, Mid Brown, May Green, Green.

The Front Porch set includes all of the coordinating dies, so let’s go ahead and die cut those. And for the bicycle we will use our detail scissors to cut this out. Let’s also die cut some little picket fences using the Ai Fence Dies (4967).

Next, we will die cut the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Box Card Pop-up from some white 100lb cardstock. To decorate this box, we will use the wonderful Ai Patriotic PP (6090). I absolutely love this paper pack; it is so fun and festive!

I’ll show you in today’s video how to assemble this pop-up box. I’ll give you a few tips and tricks for easy assembly.

Once the assembly of the box is complete, we can add all of our little patriotic pieces! Let’s also add some large numbers for the 250th celebration using the Ai Lg Number Dies (5911).

Finally, we can add a little bit of interest and dimension using some clay stars in red, white and blue…of course! I am going to put this out as a cute decoration, but this will easily fold up to an A2 card size and can be easily mailed.

Lawn Fawn Tool Time Pocket Card!

Today we will be creating a fun masculine birthday or Father’s Day card using some fun products from Lawn Fawn. We will create a little pocket to hold a gift card and sentiment tag.

Let’s begin with the Lawn Fawn Tool Time Background Stencil Set. These wonderful layering stencils will allow us to create a fun tool background which will include a hammer, screwdriver, saw and so much more!

To get started, let’s die cut one of the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Rectangle Stackables. Now we can do a bit of stenciling!

For the stenciling we will be using several ink pads from the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide collection. I have listed and linked all of those colors for you down in the product section. For an added layer of interest on this background, we will lightly stencil a brick pattern using the Lawn Fawn Brick Stencil. Once the stenciling is done we will ink the edges and add a little bit of spattering.

Let’s layer this background onto a black card base and add some Lawn Fawn Twine in the Natural color. We will just quickly wrap it around the card base a few times and tie a simple knot.

Let’s create the jean pocket using the Lawn Fawn Money Pocket Die Set…if this isn’t available, I will list a few other similar pocket dies for you.

We will die cut the pocket from some blue cardstock and add some distressing and ink around the edges.

Next, we can die cut a smaller rectangle for the sentiment. I stamped the “Happy Father’s Day” sentiment, but you could easily substitute this for a birthday or retirement sentiment.
