PEEK-A-BOO POP-UP – Perfectly Pawsome!

Today we are going to have some fun creating a Peek-a-boo Pop-up Card! These cards are so easy and fun to make! I’ll give you all of the instructions and some tips to make this fun and interactive card!

For our images today we will be using the wonderful Ai Feline Set (5369). We will be using the large grouping of cute cats and the little cat that looks like he/she is laying on it’s back….but we are going to use it as our jumping cat!

Let’s start by stamping the images and coloring them using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Sugared Almond Pink, Lt Gray, Platinum Brown, Mustard, Oatmeal, Beige, Sand, Mid Brown.

Now we can prep the card base for our pop-up using the Lawn Fawn Peek-a-boo Pop-up Dies. This set contains all of the dies you will need to create this super fun card! So let’s go ahead and die cut all of the pieces using some Strathmore Bristol Smooth 100lb cardstock and we will color this in using the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks.

Once the backgrounds are colored we can add a bit of color to the bottoms of each of the clouds and some Wink of Stella clear glitter for some added sparkle!

For the sentiments we will be using the same Ai Feline Set (5369) as well as the Ai MB Cats (5730). So this card will say “Hope your birthday’s…purrfectly pawsome!”. We will die cut the sentiments using the banner die from the Ai Tag Stitched Dies (5132).

Now we can assemble this peek-a-boo pop-up and watch our little cat jump around…so much fun!!!

EMBOSS IT! Combining wet and dry embossing!

I’m so happy to be showing you a fun tag card which I created to kick off Ai’s brand new blog challenge which is called “Emboss like a BOSS!”. Any embossing will do…including both wet and dry techniques! We will be using both today!

For today’s feature card we will be using the adorable Ai Baby Critters Set (5400) which includes several fun birthday critters along with several coordinating sentiments. We will be using many of these sentiments for this card!

Let’s get started by stamping and coloring in all of our images using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Sugared Almond Pink, Pale Orange, Purple, Yellow, Bright Yellow, Persian Green, Lt Gray, Mid Gray, Beige, Mid Brown.

We’ll also add some details to the balloons and little elephant using a white gel pen. This is a great way to personalized your images!

Next we will die cut a fun stitched tag from the Ai Tag Stitched Die Set (5132) using some Strathmore Bristol Smooth 100lb Cardstock. We will stamp and emboss several sentiments from this set using clear ink and white embossing powder. This will act as a resist for the layer of Distress Oxide Ink (Speckled Egg) that we will be applying over the top of these sentiments. Just be sure to grab a paper towel and wipe off any excess ink that is sitting on top of the sentiments because it will not dry and could rub off!

We will add a bit of a floral border at the bottom of the tag using the Ai Easter Journal Paper Pack (5742). This patterned paper will coordinate well with the coloring we have already done.

Next let’s add a bit of baker’s twine and a bow to the top of the tag!

Now we can add some texture and dimension to our card using a 3D Geometric Flowers Embossing Folder. We will keep this background in plain white so that the tag remains our focal point!

Finally, we can assemble the card and add a bit of sparkle with some pretty teal colored opalescent sequins!

It’s really fun to combine the wet and dry embossing techniques for adding lots and lots of dimension and texture to your cards!

Front Porch Garden Card!

Today we are going to be using another wonderful Front Porch Series stamp set! This is the Ai Front Porch Garden Set (5486) and has so many beautiful images including a few potted plants, floral wreath, topiary, floral vine and even a cute little pair of rain boots! Please note that you will need the Ai Front Porch Set (5512) to create the basic front porch and door. I’ll talk a bit more about that in the video and give you a closer look at that set!

Let’s get started by stamping and coloring all of these sweet little images using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens as follows: Blender, Sugared Almond Pink, Peach Pink, Pale Orange, Orange, Scarlet Red, Yellow, Lt Violet, Lt Green, Deep Green, Mid Green, Moss Green, Mid Gray, Lt Gray, Beige, Lt Brown, Sand, Mid Brown, Smoky Teal.

Since this set includes the coordinating dies we can go ahead and die cut all of these little pieces!

To set the scene for our front porch we will use a 3D Deck Planks Embossing Folder and then we will add a bit of gray in-between the wood slats for a bit more interest and dimension. We will also cut a strip of paper for the bottom of the card and use a blending brush to add some Tim Holtz Twisted Citron Oxide Ink and Rustic Wilderness and give this panel a little spatter for some added interest!

I’m creating a card to celebrate a new home….so I have selected the “Home Sweet Home” sentiment from the Ai Front Porch Set. However, keep in mind that this card could be used for many different occasions! This was stamped onto a pretty die cut label using the die from the Ai Journal Template Die Set (5543). Once we die cut the label we can do a bit of blending using that same Tim Holtz Twisted Citron Oxide Ink and then we can add some stitched lines using a permanent black pen!

Let’s assemble the card with glue and foam squares for added dimension!

Easy Paper Piecing – Masculine Birthday Card!

For today’s masculine birthday card let’s do a bit of paper piecing! This is a good way to use up some of your leftover paper scraps! We will be using the super fun Ai Sit Back Laugh Lines Set (5421) for the focal image and the sentiment on this card. We will also be using the Ai Birthday Journal Set (5722) for the balloons. The cupcakes are from an older Ai Stamp Set that has unfortunately been discontinued, however, you can use any of your cake or cupcake images here.

This card was inspired by the current Ai “Midnight Snack” Blog Challenge! What better way to enjoy a snack than to have lots of cupcakes on hand! We’d love to see your creations….so please join us by submitting your own card or project using any foods including cupcakes, cake, fruit, veggies, or anything else you would like to surprise us with!

We will be stamping this fun guy several times and then piecing it together. This is great for those of you who don’t necessarily love the coloring process or for those of you who want to try something a bit different! So lets stamp the image onto some white Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock and then onto several other pattern papers. You will need a separate color for the chair, shirt, pants, and slippers. And for the balloons we can stamp directly onto the pattern papers in three different patterns.

The papers we will be using are from the Ai Harvest Journal Paper Pack (5606) and the Ai Halloween Journal Paper Pack (5605).

So let’s quickly color in just a few areas of this little guy….the face, hair and arms/legs. Let’s also quickly color the cupcakes. For the coloring I used the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Flesh Colour, Sugared Almond Pink, Yellow, Orange, Smoky Teal, Green Gray, Lt Gray, Gray, Beige, Mid Brown.

Now we can take our detail scissors and cut out the individual items from the pattern papers and glue them onto the white image. I just love his plaid shirt and his polka dot pants!

To set the scene, lets add some striped wallpaper…and we will die cut this using the Ai Rectangle A2 Double Stitched Dies (5063). This will give a nice stitched border all the way around the card. We can add a white border at the bottom and some black pattern paper for the floor.

Finally, let’s stamp the sentiment and assemble the card! And for a finishing touch we can add some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen to the frosting on the cupcakes!

Happy Dance Window Card!

Today we will be creating a fun birthday window card using the Ai Perfect Duet Set (4999). To set the scene for our dancers we will be using the Ai Valentines Journal Paper Pack. We will use the pretty plaid for the front of our card and the happy little hearts paper for the inside of the card. Let’s die cut these panels using the Ai Rectangle A2 Double Stitched Dies Set (5063). We can also die cut just a small portion of some of the pinkish/red paper for the floor in our scene.

Next we can stamp and color the couple and the boom box! All of today’s coloring was done using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Flesh Colour, Sugared Almond Pink, Wine Red, Haze Blue, Aquamarine Blue, Emerald Green, Lt Gray, Gray Brown, Mid Brown, Beige.

Now let’s go to the Ai Journal Template Die Set (5543) and grab the window frame die. We can die cut this frame from the front of the card panel and the plaid paper at the same time. I’ll show you a little trick for getting this to line up perfectly! Remember to die cut an extra window frame for the inside of your card.

Now we can cut a piece of acetate to the size of the card and tape it to the front of the card. Now let’s add the plaid paper over the top of the acetate. Also, add the frame to the front of the card and add the second frame to the inside of the card. This will hide the adhesive nicely!

Next we can add a sentiment for the front of the card which says “Get your happy on!” and a sentiment for the inside which says “You don’t stop dancing when you get old…you get old when you stop dancing!”. These sentiments are from the Ai Be Happy Laugh Lines Set (5279). We will die cut theses two sentiments using the banner die from the Ai Journal Template Die Set (5543). I’ll show you a fun trick for using this smaller die for your larger sentiment!

Let’s go ahead and do the final assembly and then add a few pretty pink pastel hearts to the front of the card!
