Frosted Butterflies? Yes, please!

Let’s create a pretty butterfly card using the new Lawn Fawn Butterfly Background Stencil Set. This is a two-part stencil and will allow us to create some blended solid butterflies and then with the second stencil we can add the butterfly details!

We will get started by die cutting a rectangle panel using the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Stackables Die Set. Now we will mask off the edges of the rectangle with some temporary tape. This will give the look of an added white layer when the panel is complete.

Next, we will take part one of the stencil set, which again will give us the solid butterfly. To apply ink, we will be using the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Kitsch Flamingo, Shaded Lilac, and Tumbled Glass. We will do some simple blending at this stage of the stenciling.

Now we can add the detail to the butterflies using part two of the stencil set. For this, we will use the TH Distress Oxide Inks in Picked Raspberry and Villainous Potion.

For the best part, we will add some TH Distress Grit Paste over the top of the stencil. This will add the most amazing frosted, or sugar-candy look! It’s so unique and different…. yet so pretty!

Now lets die cut another rectangle panel from that same die set. We will add a sentiment to this using the Lawn Fawn Scripty Thinking of You Die Set and the Add-on Set. But before we die cut the sentiment, we will ink up a white panel using the TH Distress Oxide Inks in two of the colors that we have already used. Any two will do!

Now, let’s die cut this blended panel and attach it to the add-on piece which was die cut from the brand-new Lawn Fawn “Macaron” Cardstock Paper Pack in the pale lavender color. We will also use that same color to add a panel to fit the front of the card.

Before we do the final assembly, let’s add some pretty purple twine and pop-up the sentiment panel.

For a finishing touch, let’s add some sparkly gems in lavender for added interest and dimension!
