Vellum Overlay “Stay Fabulous” Card!

Today we will create a vellum overlay card using the super fun Ai Stay Hydrated Set (5928). This stamp set has a wonderful image of a lady holding her tumbler, which can be decorated with the variety of insert stamps available in this set. It also has some wonderful coordinating sentiments, and we will be using one of those today. We are going to be using just the individual tumbler for today’s card and hopefully give this set a fun new look!

This card was inspired by the current Ai Blog “Drink Up!” Challenge. For this challenge you can use coffee, tea, cocoa, wine, water or whatever this challenge congers up in your mind! Just have fun!

For the card base we will create a A2 size card using some vellum and a piece of 100lb cardstock in white. The vellum will overlay the white card base. So next we can stamp the tumbler along the bottom of the vellum using the Staz-on Snowflake White Ink Pad. This will dry permanently on the vellum with no need to emboss….unless you want to!

The next step is the best part! We will do all of the coloring of the tumblers on the backside of the vellum in a rainbow of colors. Here we can do some simple blending and highlighting. Keep in mind that the coloring will stay wet a bit longer because the vellum is not as absorbent as your cardstock and will allow the ink to sit up on the vellum. Just be careful and heat set the ink as you go along.

To do the coloring I will be using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Carmine Red, Scarlet Red, Bright Yellow, May Green, Blue, Violet, Cool Gray 3. However, your Tombow Markers and blender marker would work great for this technique.

Now let’s add some lettering to each of the tumblers using the Ai Small Alphabet Set (5284). We will stamp out the word “CHEERS”!

Next, let’s create a pretty scalloped border for the top of the card and for our sentiment. The border die is from the Ai Journal Template Die Set (5543). It is not quite long enough to fit across the card so I will show you how to easily extend the border to the needed size.

Once the border is die-cut we can add the sentiment from the same set and ink it with our markers in all of the rainbow colors. You may have to ink it a few times to get a nice crisp stamping.

Using some double-side tape we will add the border to the vellum overlay and then with some additional double-side tape we can attach the vellum to the card base.

For some additional interest we will stamp and die-cut some cute little butterflies from the Ai Birds and Bugs Set (5561) and sprinkle those around the tumblers in the coordinating colors. With the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen, we will add some sparkle to each of the butterflies.

Finally, let’s add some pretty iridescent gems and ribbon, both of which will pick up all of these rainbow colors!

Fringed Floral Gift Card Pocket (Using Fabric, Buttons, Gems and Twine)

In today’s video we are going to create a super fun Fringed Floral Gift Card Pocket! This card was inspired by the current Art Impressions “Not Just Paper” Blog Challenge which is to create a card or project that isn’t just paper. So, let’s add some fabric, a button, some gems and a bit of twine to today’s card!

For our floral images and leaves we will be using the Ai My Hope Set (5936). This set also includes these really wonderful, stamped lines which we will be using on our pocket tag! The little butterflies are from the Ai Birds and Bugs Set (5561).

Let’s go ahead and stamp and color all of our images using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Ice Blue, Aquamarine Blue, Sea Green, Turquoise Green, Smoky Teal, English Lavender, Violet.

Now we can create our pocket and background panel using the Ai Fairy Garden Paper Pack (5939). We can die cut the pieces for the pocket out of the lavender polka dot paper and the background from the pretty coordinating floral paper using the Ai Rectangle A2 Double Stitched Dies. The Money Pocket Die Set is from Lawn Fawn!

We will add some fabric fringe to the outside edges of the pocket…love this look! Let’s also add a teal-colored button to the pocket with a bit of lavender and white twine tied in a knot.

Next, we can assemble the card base and pocket…and also add the florals, leaves and butterflies. To add a bit of sparkle we will add some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter to these items.

To create the tag for the pocket, let’s cut some patterned paper a bit larger than the gift card. On one side of the tag, we will stamp those lines that I mentioned earlier and then we can also stamp a sentiment using the Ai Friend Sentiments Set (5734). I was so happy when this sentiment fit perfectly on these lines!

We can add a flower and leave to the tag and then add a pretty gem to the centers of each of our flowers!

All we need to do is attach the gift card to the tag or just simply place it in the pocket if you don’t want to tape it down. This pocket would also be great for some money as well! You could also just simply write a sweet message on this tag and tuck it into the pocket if you prefer!

Fun Floral Truck Card!

Today’s feature card was inspired by the current Ai Blog Challenge called “Birds of a Feather” which is to incorporate a bird or birds on your card or project!

I thought it would be fun to create a scene where the Ai Floral Truck Set (5511) would look like a little pop-up floral shop. So, let’s begin by stamping the images from this set, as well as a few birds from the Ai Birds and Bugs Set (5561), and a pretty topiary from the Ai Front Porch Garden Set (5486). All of the coloring today will be done using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Yellow, Bright Yellow, Lt Pink, Peach Pink, Lilac, Lt Violet, Deep Red Grape, Deep Vermillion, Deep Red, Lt Gray, Gray, Cool Gray 6, Beige, Mid Brown, Haze Blue, Lt Blue, Cobalt Blue, Persian Green, Blue Gray, Dk Agate, Lt Green, Green.

To ground the scene, we will be stamping a brick walk using the Sunny Studio Sprawling Surfaces Stamp Set. This set has three different images including this brick walk as well as wood planks and a stone path!

Once the brick walk is stamped and colored, we can add a pretty sky by ink blending some orange and yellow inks!

Next, we can assemble the card, popping up some of the items for added interest and dimension. Don’t forget to add those adorable little birds and bees! To layer up the card we will use some pretty polka dot paper from the Ai Easter S2 Paper Pack (5892).

We can also add some baker’s twine and tie a bow at the top of the card! And as you probably already know, I have been trying to complete my cards by adding a sentiment and an interesting element to the inside of the card. For this card, I added a sentiment from the Ai Mrs. Set (5405) which says, “Wishing you every Bloomin’ Thing!” and another cute flowerpot as well as a little bee!

Spring Tulips Frame Card!

One day recently, I just couldn’t get my creative juices flowing so I sat and colored and cut out several of the Ai Small Easter Tulips (5894). I colored many more than I needed for this card, but it did help to get me out of my slump. Sometimes I find that I just need to do something easy and calming…which for me is coloring and fussy cutting with my detail scissors. Once these tulips were all colored, I added some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter and set them aside to dry. I came back to these a few days later and they inspired me to make today’s card!

Next, let’s stamp the pup using the Ai FB Sitting Dog (5780) and the little bees from the Ai Birds and Bugs Set (5561) and then we can do some quick coloring.

All of the coloring today was done using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Lt Green, Green, Yellow, Bright Yellow, Lilac, Lt Violet, Deep Red Grape, Haze Blue, Lt Pink, Beige, Mid Brown.

To make the images really pop I thought we would create a beautiful frame using the Ai Decorative Journal Page 1 Set (5768). However, this die was a solid die, so we need to cut out the center using the rectangle dies. I will show you exactly how to do this in today’s video. This is a great way to extend the use of your dies in a new and fun way!

For paper today we will be using the brand-new Ai Easter S2 Paper Pack (5892). To die cut these backgrounds we will be using the Ai Rectangle A2 Double Stitched Dies (5063) and to cut out the rectangle frame in the center we will be using the Ai Nested Rectangle Dies (5724).

Let’s assemble the card and add a few cute little sentiments using the Ai Mini Birthday Sentiment Set (5866). Lately, I have really been trying to do something a bit special on the inside of my cards as well. For this card, I added a cute little envelope using the Ai Journal Template Die Set (5543) and that gave me a fun way to add the sentiment, some tulips, and a few bees!

For a finishing touch, we can add a few sparkly embellishments around our little pup!
