Happy Bee-Day Card!

Today’s card was inspired by the new Ai “Yellow” Blog Challenge which is to simply use the color yellow somewhere on your card or project! Yellow is just such a happy, cheerful color and little bees were the first thing that came into my mind for this card!

We will be creating a fun grid layout with some pretty patterned papers from the brand-new Ai Floral Shop Paper Packs! The colors and patterns coordinate perfectly and will make this card super easy to create.

Let’s begin by stamping, coloring and die cutting the bees and the cute little bear. The bees are from the Ai Honey Bee Set (5925) and the bear is the Ai FREEBIE Honey Bear. The FREEBIE is available with a $30 purchase. There are several bears to choose from so you can decide which one you like best!

For the coloring we will use the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Sugared Almond Pink, Yellow, Bright Yellow, Flesh Colour, Beige, Mid Brown, Olive Green, and Haze Blue. We can die cut the bees with the coordinating dies and for the bear we can do a bit of fussy cutting, leaving a little white border all the way around, and cutting away the bee for the inside of the card.

For the stitched layers on the card, we will be using the Ai Rectangle A2 Double Stitched Dies (5063) in a few different sizes. And for the grid layout, I will give you all of the dimensions in today’s video! Don’t forget to die cut and additional panel for the inside of the card and add your sentiment and little bee!

For a bit more interest, we will wrap the front of the card with some pretty yellow ribbon and layer up the card.

For a finishing touch, let’s add a few sparkly gems in a topaz color!

Using Double-Sided Pattern Papers to Create a Gatefold Card!

Let’s use our double-sided pattern papers today to create a fun, whimsical, and colorful gatefold card! By using the Ai Easter Bunny Paper Pack (6036) we will have all of the coordinating papers to create a gatefold card that will have pretty patterns on both the inside and outside of the card.

This card was inspired by the current Ai “Un-Bear-ably Cute!” Blog Challenge which is to create any card or project using a bear! So, I thought we would use the cute Ai Valentine Bears Set (5005) and we will be using the little bear with the string of hearts for our focal image today! We will also use some bees from the Ai Honey Bee Set (5925).

Let’s stamp and color the bear and bees using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Pink Haze, Lt Pink, Pale Yellow, Yellow, Haze Blue, Flesh Colour, Beige, Mid Brown, Warm Gray 6.

Next, we will create the frames, flaps, and panels for this fun gatefold card … and I will show you how to create all of these pieces and give you all of the measurements in today’s video. The hardest part is selecting the pattern papers that you will want to use for each of the sections of the card. We will be using the Ai Portfolio Template Die Set for the scallop frame and to create the two flaps on the front of the card. I’ll show you a little trick for hiding the tabs on the front flaps and I’ll also show you a trick for lining up the frame on the inside of the card perfectly with the one on the front of the card!

We will stamp a few cute sentiments using the Ai Panda Set (5821) which will say “bear hugs” and “I like you beary much”!

Let’s assemble the card and add our cute little bees for a bit more interest and whimsy! We can also add some clear glitter pen to the wings of the butterflies and the string of hearts.

As a finishing touch, let’s add some sparkly gems in gold dust to the front of the card!

Re-imagining your Matchbook Dies!

We are going to have some fun today by re-imagining the Ai Matchbook Template Die Set (5317). We are going to use the Matchbook card base, however, for the images we will be using the Ai Honey Bee Set (5925) which includes the most adorable little bees, hives, flowers, honeycomb and the cutest coordinating sentiments.

This card was inspired by the current Ai “Case that Card” Blog Challenge! The term “case” is to “copy and share everything”. This is a great way to get a card idea that can be used as your inspiration to create your own version of this idea. This is especially helpful if you are in a creative slump…this can help to get your creative juices flowing again.

So, I would like to thank our very own Design Team Member, Renee for this fantastic “out-of-the-box” idea! When I saw the adorable little village scene that she created using the matchbook template die set, I wished I had thought of it myself…lol! I thought I would honor her by creating this “bee” version because I know that she loves bee themed cards!

Take a look at Renee’s sweet matchbook scene that inspired today’s card:

So, let’s begin by stamping, die-cutting, and coloring all of the images that we will be using today. All of the coloring was done using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Flesh Colour, Tear Rose, Bright Yellow, Scarlet Red, Geranium Red, Yellow, Haze Blue, Green Gray, Beige, Mid Brown, Cool Gray 6.

Using a heavyweight black cardstock, let’s also die-cut a pretty fence using the Ai WC Arbor Die Set (5363).

Let’s set these aside while we build the matchbook base using the Ai Matchbook Template Die Set (5317) and some pretty patterned paper from the Easter S2 Paper Pack (5892). We will use this same paper to create the coordinating envelope using the Ai Envelope Template Die Set (5318). I’ll show you exactly how to quickly and easily die-cut and fold the matchbook and envelope in today’s video.

Next, we can add all of our adorable images, including the fence and add a few sweet sentiments from this same set. I saved one of the bees for the back of the envelope….so cute!

For a finishing touch, let’s add some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter to the wings of the bees and add some highlights with a white gel pen!

Front and Back “All A-Buzz” Window Card!

Today we will be creating a super fun “Front and Back” card using a couple of different stamp sets from Art Impressions! If you haven’t seen the “Fronts and Backs” yet, then you are going to love the way you can see both sides of the image when the card is opened and closed. The stamps we will be using today include the cute little Ai Honey Bee Set (5925) and the adorable little Ai Gnomes Set (5765). The Gnome Set has a Front and Back Gnome that we will be placing in the window of our card.

But what is really fun is that the Ai Honey Bee Set has these beautiful sunflowers and one of the little bees that line up perfectly, as well, to create a front and back! It was sort of by chance that I figured that out…and oh was I happy!

Let’s start by stamping, coloring and die cutting all of the images that we will be using today. The dies for the stamps are included in the sets but we will also be using the Ai Farm FB Fence Set (5770) to create the fence and opening in the card.

All of today’s coloring was done using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Pale Yellow, Yellow, Flesh Colour, Blush, Haze Blue, Sea Green, Turquoise Green, Lt Gray, Olive Green, Mid Green, Dk Green, Warm Gray 6, Brown. Dk Brown.

Next, we can create a pretty sky by die cutting a large, stitched panel and blending the panel using our Distress Oxide Inks in Salvage Patina and Peacock Feathers. Let’s also spatter the sky with the Peacock Feathers ink and also spatter it with the Dr. Ph Martin’s Bleed Proof White Ink.

Now we need to die cut the rectangular opening which in included in the FB Farm Die Set and we will need to die cut this again into our card base. I will show you exactly how to easily line everything up in today’s video. We also need to die cut two of the fences from some Kraft cardstock. We will add a bit of inking to the fences to give them a more rustic look. Before we assemble the sky frame onto the card, we will sandwich a piece of acetate in between the layers so that we can give the card a more finished look as well as give us a place to glue our Front and Back Bee! You’ll see what I mean when you watch the video!

We will also need to die cut a few grassy borders and ink them using the Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn and Rustic Wilderness.

Let’s go ahead and stamp the sentiment on the section of sky that we die cut from the larger rectangle.

Next, glue the fronts and backs of the gnome and sunflowers and then we can assemble the card!

We can add some highlights with a white gel pen and some sparkle with some pretty topaz-colored gems!
