Easy & Elegant Envelope Art!

I have been wanting to do some envelope art for a very long time and therefore, I was so thrilled and inspired by the current Ai “It’s in the Mail” Blog Challenge. This challenge is to create something in the postal genre’ by using your envelope dies, GC holder or MB envelopes, use mailboxes or create a matching envelope for a card.

For the frame images we will be using the Frameworks Stamp Sets #1 (5420) and Set #2 (6026). These sets have several pretty frames that are perfect for your envelope art! They create a great space for your name and address information.

We will also select some flower stamps from the Ai My Hope Set (5936) and the Ai His Love Set (6150).

But first, let’s create our own envelopes using some 90lb watercolor paper. I chose this paper for its lighter weight and the ability to watercolor our images very easily. The We R Makers Envelope Board has been around for a very long time, but it is perfect for creating your own personalized envelopes. You can use your pattern papers for this process as well. I will show you exactly how to use the punch board in today’s video. I’ll also show you how to easily create a pretty paper liner for each of the envelopes!

Now that our envelopes are made let’s begin by stamping a flower image onto the envelope and then we will stamp it again onto some masking paper and fussy cutting the masked image with your detail scissors. This entire process is much easier if you use your stamp positioning tool.

Now place this mask over the floral image and grab your favorite framework stamp. Go ahead and stamp the frame. Now you can remove the mask and it will look as though the floral image was always part of the frame image!

Let’s color the images using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Lemon Yellow, Yellow, Br Yellow, Lt Pink, Wine Red, English Lavender, Deep Violet, Lt Green, Deep Green.

To highlight the center of the frames a bit more we will ink blend some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink into the center of the frames. You will want to use some Post-it Cover-up Tape around the edges of the frame before you begin ink blending.

Next, let’s spatter the envelopes with the coordinating inks to tie everything together!

Fun w/ Large Alphabet Dies!

Let’s have some fun today using the brand-new Ai Large Letter Die Set (5910) to create an elegant floral friendship card! We will be using a pretty inlay technique to make these large letters look extra special!

This card was inspired by the current Ai “ABC, 123” Blog Challenge which is to use your number, or letter dies to create a unique card or project!

Let’s begin by creating the card base and adding a sweet lacy border using the brand-new Ai Bible Journaling Decorative Margin Dies (5972). This 7″ long border die is perfect for this larger card that we will be creating, and I will show you a little trick for cutting it just along the edge of the card.

Now we can add some pretty patterned papers from the Ai Encouragement Paper Pack (5955) and the Ai Encouragement Cover Paper Pack (5960). We will add the gingham plaid to the front of the card and the polka dot paper on the inside of the card. I will give you all of the measurements in today’s video. But before we attach the plaid paper to the card, we will die cut the word “FRIENDSHIP” onto the panel (be sure to keep the little pieces for the center of the R and D). Let’s go ahead and assemble the layers of the card.

Next, we will also die cut the letters again from some darker violet floral paper and these will get inlayed into the letter openings. This is a super fun and simple technique that adds lots of interest to your cards!

Now we can add some pretty iridescent ribbon to the top of the card and stamp a few sentiments using the Ai Friend Sentiments Set (5734).

Let’s stamp some floral images from the Ai My Hope Set (5936) and color them using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Yellow, Pale Violet, Violet, May Green, Green. We will fussy cut these images using our detail scissors leaving a little white border around the edges.

Once we have the florals laid out on the card, we will glue some directly onto the card and pop-up some others for more interest and dimension!

This card would be great for a Mother’s Day card if you substitute the word “FRIEND” for “MOTHER”. You could certainly put any word or name you prefer and just change out the sentiments! Just have fun!

Easy Paper Layering Card!

Today we will be creating a pretty layered card in purples and teal greens! This card will actually have 5 paper layers and one “faux” layer which we will create using an easy masking technique!

First, let’s stamp all of the florals and leaves from the Ai My Trust Set (5937) and color them using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Lt Pink, Pale Violet, Violet, Ice Blue, Aquamarine Blue, Persian Green, Scarlet Red, Lt Brown, Blue Gray. Once the coloring is done, we will simply do some fussy cutting, leaving a little bit of a white border all around the edges.

The white card base will be a standard A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″). Then we will add a layer of purple polka dot paper, another layer of white cardstock, a layer of plaid paper, and finally the pretty frame die cut layer. The patterned papers will come from the Ai Encouragement Paper Pack and the frame will be cut from the Ai Decorative Journal Page 1 Die Set (5768).

For the white frame let’s add a “faux” layer by masking the scalloped edges using some Post-it Layering and Cover-up Tape. Once the tape is securely placed on this frame, we will add some ink blending in a pretty Speckled Egg color. So now it will look like two layers!

Let’s add a sentiment to this frame layer using the Ai Encouragement Sentiment Set (5949), and it will say “Healing thoughts sent your way, to lift your spirits to a brighter day.” The sentiments in this set are just so thoughtful and kind.

Now let’s go ahead and layer up the card using some 3D Foam Squares for added dimension and interest.

Finally, we will add the floral arrangement in the bottom left-hand corner. Don’t forget the pretty little bird! Let’s also add a cute bow using some white twine and some shimmer and sparkle with some coordinating teal gems!

Fringed Floral Gift Card Pocket (Using Fabric, Buttons, Gems and Twine)

In today’s video we are going to create a super fun Fringed Floral Gift Card Pocket! This card was inspired by the current Art Impressions “Not Just Paper” Blog Challenge which is to create a card or project that isn’t just paper. So, let’s add some fabric, a button, some gems and a bit of twine to today’s card!

For our floral images and leaves we will be using the Ai My Hope Set (5936). This set also includes these really wonderful, stamped lines which we will be using on our pocket tag! The little butterflies are from the Ai Birds and Bugs Set (5561).

Let’s go ahead and stamp and color all of our images using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Ice Blue, Aquamarine Blue, Sea Green, Turquoise Green, Smoky Teal, English Lavender, Violet.

Now we can create our pocket and background panel using the Ai Fairy Garden Paper Pack (5939). We can die cut the pieces for the pocket out of the lavender polka dot paper and the background from the pretty coordinating floral paper using the Ai Rectangle A2 Double Stitched Dies. The Money Pocket Die Set is from Lawn Fawn!

We will add some fabric fringe to the outside edges of the pocket…love this look! Let’s also add a teal-colored button to the pocket with a bit of lavender and white twine tied in a knot.

Next, we can assemble the card base and pocket…and also add the florals, leaves and butterflies. To add a bit of sparkle we will add some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter to these items.

To create the tag for the pocket, let’s cut some patterned paper a bit larger than the gift card. On one side of the tag, we will stamp those lines that I mentioned earlier and then we can also stamp a sentiment using the Ai Friend Sentiments Set (5734). I was so happy when this sentiment fit perfectly on these lines!

We can add a flower and leave to the tag and then add a pretty gem to the centers of each of our flowers!

All we need to do is attach the gift card to the tag or just simply place it in the pocket if you don’t want to tape it down. This pocket would also be great for some money as well! You could also just simply write a sweet message on this tag and tuck it into the pocket if you prefer!
