Tim Holtz – Stencils, Spritz, Dies, Stickers, Glitter and Glaze!

Today we will be breaking out a whole bunch of Tim Holtz products to creating two vintage holiday cards with lots of texture and dimension!

I’ll show you a fun way to use your Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks along with your TH Distress Embossing Glazes to create a fun ombre’ tree. For the tree we will be using the TH Stampers Anonymous Mini Layering Stencils – Set 62. This stencil set contains three fun mini stencils…perfect for your holiday cards and projects!

We will add a pretty poinsettia and leaves using the TH Sizzix Thinlits – Vault Holiday Classic die set and from this same set we will die cut the “Peace” sentiment. This set includes “Noel” and “Wish” and any of these would work great for this card.

We will also grab a cute reindeer from the TH Sizzix Thinlits – Darling Dear set. To color this we will just use the TH Distress Oxide in Antique Linen and Walnut Stain which will be very simple and easy to do.

For the sentiment strip on each of the cards we will use the idea-ology – Metallic Sticker Book. The stickers in this booklet include white with gold lettering and black with gold lettering and there are so many to choose from!

For the background paper we will use the TH idea-ology Christmas Backdrops and then spatter these panels with some TH Distress Spritz in coordinating colors.

We can add a nice snowy border on the bottom of the card and sprinkle it with some TH Rock Candy Glitter for a wintery look!

Don’t forget to add a few sparkly gems to your tree for added sparkle and interest!

Tim Holtz Mixed Media Christmas w/ Foundry Wax, Grit Paste and Baseboards!

Let’s create a fun mixed media holiday project with loads of wonderful products from the Tim Holtz Collection!

To set the scene for our project we will be using a pretty Tim Holtz idea-ology Baseboard from the Christmas/Noel Collection. These baseboards have a thick, chipboard type quality to them. Let’s add some texture to this baseboard by adding some TH Distress Grit Paste in Snowfall. This will dry clear and give and icy/snowy texture. We can use this baseboard to create a window for our scene which will include a beautiful deer from the TH Sizzix Thinlits Darling Deer Die Set. We will color the deer using a sponge dauber and some TH Distress Inks.

We can now add some snow drifts and then we can ink up the background for the scene again using some TH Distress Oxide Inks!

Next we can go back to the Baseboard collection and grab a few stars and a sentiment strip. To embellish these stars we can add a TH idea-ology Mirrored Star to the center of each of these chipboard stars. This will add some sparkle!

Now let’s use a beautiful poinsettia die cut from the TH idea-ology Worn Wallpaper Scraps. This set contains several patterned papers, pretty die cuts, and some border strips!

We can add a cute little bow using the TH Sizzix Thinlits Fireside Die Set. Let’s layer this up to add extra dimension.

Once we have attached all of our elements to our project we will be using the TH Distress Foundry Wax in the Gilded (golden color). We can apply this using a sponge dauber and we want to be sure to heat set this foundry wax in order to attach it to our project and bring out the shine! I’ve added it to the stars and around the edges of the baseboard. It just makes everything pop!!!

Add a bit of crystal glaze to the berries for even more dimension and a few metallic pearls in a matte gold to the center of the poinsettia and bow!

The final finishing touch is to add a spattering of white gesso to the entire project for a gorgeous snowy look and to tie the entire project together!

I’m making my mixed media project as a gift, so I am going to include a little black wooden easel to hold the project. This makes a great gift for a co-worker, friend, teacher….I think just about everyone would love to have a fun handmade holiday gift!

Tim Holtz Darling Deer Card w/ Villainous Potion Sky

Hello and Welcome!

In todays video we will be using several wonderful products from the Tim Holtz Collection including the Darling Deer and Woodlands Thinlits Die Sets! We will create a dramatic sky for our scene using the brand new Villainous Potion ink pad along with the pretty pink Kitsch Flamingo ink pad. We will be using our sponge daubers to apply the ink in small sections to get this unique looking sky!

For added texture and dimension we will do some spattering with water and paint and by adding some beautiful snowflake sequins!

The special sentiment will come from the Tim Holtz idea-ology “Christmas/Noel” Label Stickers which look a lot like using your Dymo Sticker Maker….only easier! The package contains two sheets of these wonderful sentiments.
