Tim Holtz Gentlemen Cards – Part 2 (Lost Shadow Ink, Embossing Glaze, Bold Text Dies, Stencils)

Today’s video will be Part 2 of the Tim Holtz Mixed Media Gentlemen Card Series! Part 1 was a Mixed Media Card using the Tim Holtz Texture Fades, Embossing Glaze, Foundry Wax and so much more! Let’s get started by creating a graphic background using a set of three stencils from Pinkfresh Studio called the Geo Arch. There is a Hot Foil Plate that coordinates with these stencils. I will list and link that below, however, we will only be using the stencils today.

To get started we will be stamping the background with some script text in a permanent black ink. Then we will do our stenciling. For colors we will be using the brand new Distress Oxide Ink in the Lost Shadow for stencil #1, Black Soot for stencil #2 and either Lumberjack Plaid or Uncharted Mariner for the pop of color!

Next we will apply the coordinating Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Glaze to each of the cards. Remember that this is a translucent powder so that will allow the text underneath to show through! I will give you a few tricks for embossing only one layer of stenciling.

We can die cut the two gentlemen, cane and umbrella several times with the TH Black Heavystock. Let’s layer these up to give these men some added dimension.

For the sentiments on both the outside and inside of the card we will be using the TH Sizzix Thinlits Bold Text #1. Once we have die cut the sentiments out of the white 100lb cardstock we can back each of these using the TH idea-ology Kraft-Stock Metallic Colors in Red and Blue.

Let’s add a few of the TH idea-ology Droplets in black for some added interest. This will also add a bit of dimension and keep the card in a more masculine look. If you want to give the card a more feminine look then swap out the black for some sparkly hearts, sequins or stars!

Today I am very excited to be showing you a Mixed Media card using the wonderful Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits Gentlemen Die Set! In this set you will get three gentlemen dies and a fun little umbrella and cane!

I have decided to show you this wonderful set in a Two Part Series. I didn’t want each of the videos to be too long….so I have split it into two parts. In Part 2 we will be using the Gentlemen dies again and also the new Lost Shadow Ink, the Distress Embossing Glaze, the Bold Text Die Set, and a fun three part stencil. This video will be available very soon!

So let’s get started on the card for today by using the Tim Holtz Sizzix 3-D Tree Rings Texture Fades. This will give us a great textural woodgrain background.

Now we can add some TH Distress Oxide Sprays to give this background some color using Lumberjack Plaid, Walnut Stain and Pumice Stone. These colors will blend together perfectly!

To give the background some added texture we are going to add the TH Distress Glaze in Lumberjack Plaid. Keep in mind that this is a translucent powder…so you can see all the colors underneath the glaze…which makes it so unique!

Let’s die cut several of the Gentlemen out of the TH Black Heavystock. We can layer up quite a few of these to create a thick chipboard-like embellishment.

We can do some quick spattering on the background and the Gentleman. Now let’s add some fun ephemera from the Tim Holtz idea-ology collection and a few metal stars!

Finally, we will be adding some TH Distress Foundry Wax. This will give the card a metallic look on the background and some of our embellishments. I will discuss a few tips and tricks for using this amazing product!
