Today we will be creating some tiny little vintage matchbox party favors! This little box is from the brand-new Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits Vault Matchbox die set!
Let’s get started by die cutting the base of our boxes from some Tim Holtz Distress Kraft Heavystock. This is going to give us a nice solid base for the boxes. We will be mass producing three boxes today and by doing this we can really speed up the process. Setting up a little production line is great, especially if you are planning on creating several of these for the holidays! We can quickly fold and assemble these box bases using a bone folder and some 1/4″ double-sided tape.
Next, we can die cut the “wrap-around” piece for the boxes using the wonderful Tim Holtz idea-ology – Kraft Stock Sparkle – Christmas collection. This paper has a wonderful subtle sparkle which is perfect for these vintage looking boxes.
Next, let’s die cut the images for the top of our boxes using the wonderful Tim Holtz idea-ology – Christmas Large Collage Strips. You will absolutely love these…they are perfect for tiny projects such as this or tiny tags, bookmarks, mini journals, etc.
Once these are die-cut we can ink around the edges with the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink in Vintage Photo. We will add a snowy effect to these by spattering on some white ink. Let’s pop these up on the front of the boxes with some foam squares. We can ink the edges of the box base at this same time.
Next, let’s add some holly leaves using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits – Vault Festive Wreath die set. Once we die cut these from some the Tim Holtz Kraft-Stock – Cool (Green). We will then sculpt these leaves to add some dimension and interest. I’ll show you how I did this in today’s video.
For the center of each of the leaf clusters we will add a cute little candy confection and add a sugary look using the Tim Holtz Rock Candy Glitter. These will look absolutely yummy!
To line the inside of the box we will use that same rectangle die and go back to the collage strips to grab some floral patterns. Don’t forget to ink around the edges of these as well. Now you can tape these to this inside of each of the boxes! This will look so pretty when the recipient slides the box open!
These adorable little boxes can be used for any party including Christmas parties, showers, birthday parties, and so much more! I folded and wrapped some cash in baker’s twine and added a cute little jingle bell to each of mine! You could add some candy, a special note, or anything you like! I’m sure you will have a great time creating these little gems for your own special event!
