Don’t put your Christmas dies away yet!!! We are going to be using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits – Layered Stripes die set on today’s card. This fun striped die was released as part of the Christmas 2023 collection from Tim Holtz. However, we are going to completely change the look of this die by creating a vintage mixed media card!
Let’s start by selecting a few pretty papers from the TH idea-ology – Backdrops #5 paper pack. We will only be using two of the dies in this set to cut the back panel from some yellow/mustard paper and the wider stripes from a pretty floral paper.
We will do a bit of inking around the edges of these panels using the TH Distress Oxide Ink in Gathered Twigs. This will give everything a vintage look!
Let’s also create the card base using the TH Distress Kraft Heavystock and ink this around the edges as well.
We will die cut a beautiful butterfly from the TH Sizzix Thinlits – Scribbly Butterflies die set. Now we can spatter both the panel and the butterfly using the Gathered Twigs ink and some Mica Stain in Crooked Broomstick (from the Halloween collection). This will tie everything together and the mica gives these a pretty shimmer!
Next, we will be adding some TH Rock Candy Glitter and a TH idea-ology Antique Gem to this butterfly.
Finally, let’s assemble the card with some pretty velvet ribbon from the TH idea-ology Velvet Trims and a wonderful sentiment from my favorite TH idea-ology – Quote Chips – Labels. The sentiment says, “There is Beauty in Simplicity”. This vintage card can be used for almost any occasion!
