Christmas Train Slimline Card!

Today we are going to play with a wonderful brand-new stamp and die set from Art Impressions! This is the Ai Christmas Train Set (5929) which has a complete set of train cars, the engine, lots of little penguins, candy canes, holly, and two sentiments!

This is a great value that is chock full of fun stuff!

We are going to create a slimline card which will give us plenty of room to layout our adorable train! Let’s begin by stamping, coloring and die cutting all of our images. For the coloring we will be using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Sugared Almond Pink, Pink Flamingo, Yellow, Lt Green, May Green, Turquoise Green, Dk Green, Carmine Red, Cobalt Blue, Lt Blue, Sand, Lt Gray, Gray, Warm Gray 6.

To personalize the train cars and add some interest to the other images, we will use a white gel pen. We can add some polka dots, plaid and stitch marks to our train, some stripes to the candy canes and some details to the packages.

Next, let’s work on the layers of our card. We will use the Ai Slimline Die Set (5463) for our layers. And for the plaid background layer we will be using the Ai Christmas Magic Paper Pack (5853), however, this paper is only 6″ wide so we will need to piece this long panel together. I will show you an easy way to do this in today’s video!

For the next layer, we will die-cut a panel from white cardstock and create a pretty blue sky using a blending brush and the Distress Oxide Inks in Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon. Let’s also spatter the background with some white ink and clear glitter!

Next, we can die-cut another white panel and die-cut a snowy border from this panel. This will give us a nice place to tuck the train in behind the snow for a pretty, wintery look! And to connect the train cars we will be adding some red and white baker’s twine!

Let’s go ahead and assemble the card by gluing down some of the images and popping up some others with our dimensional foam squares.

For a few finishing touches we can add a bow with some red and white baker’s twine, some glossy accents to the holly berries and a bit more sparkle with our clear glitter pen!

Finally, we can stamp the sentiment on the outside and inside of the card from that same stamp set. I added the holly leaves and berries to the inside sentiment. This will tie everything together!
