Today’s card was inspired by the new Art Impressions “You’re a Gem” Blog Challenge! The challenge is to use a bit of bling on your card or project. I’m honored to be the featured artist for this fun new challenge!
I’ve got a beautiful brand-new watercolor set to show you from Art Impressions called WC Roses (5831). This set contains several different roses and a few leaves and sprigs. I love this little set because it is so versatile and can be used with so many of your other sets!
We are going to do a bit of simple water-coloring today using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Lt Pink, Peach Pink, Pink, Geranium Red, Scarlet Red, Yellow, Lt Green, Green. However, we will be using a water-brush and the Zigs together for a very loose watercolor look! I love this coloring technique because it is so easy and doesn’t have to be perfect.
While we have our Zigs at hand, we can add a few spatters in the pinks and yellow/red colors. This will tie everything together!
Let’s start by die cutting two panels using the Ai Nested Rectangle Dies (5724) in white and pink cardstock. We will stamp and emboss several roses from this new set using one of my favorite embossing powders in Liquid Platinum. We will stamp the two panels at the same time using the MISTI stamp positioner. This will make the stamping so much quicker and easier. But most importantly it will allow the two panels to be exactly the same and this will be important when we cut the pink cardstock at an angle.
Let’s cut the pink panel … and I will show you exactly how I measured and cut these angles for a fun and unique look on our card!
Now we can pop-up the pink onto the white panel using some 3D Foam Tape for some added interest and dimension.
Next we can add a layer of pretty metallic silver cardstock and attach this whole piece to a white card.
Let’s add a cute little tag using the Ai Journal Template Die Set (5543) and a sentiment using the Ai Birthday Sentiments Set (5735). We can also stamp this tag with another rose using the same WC Roses set.
Finally, let’s add more bling by adding a few shiny silver metallic pearls and a few dots of silver using the Signo Gel Pen!
