Fun with Tim Holtz Oxide Sprays, Dies and Embossing Folders!

Let’s have some fun today playing with our Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Sprays to create a few backgrounds! I’ll be using some Strathmore Bristol Smooth 100lb Cardstock for the card panels. This cardstock will allow the ink to flow and blend nicely and is heavy enough to avoid too much warping.

I thought I would create a loose pastel rainbow effect on each of the panels. However, for one of them we will allow a lot more blending and for the other one we will try to keep the colors a bit more separate to get more of a rainbow look.

To do our spraying we will be using the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Sprays in the following colors: Spun Sugar, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Cracked Pistachio, and Salvaged Patina. I’ll show you in the video how I created the two different looks!

Once these panels are dry, we can grab the beautiful Tim Holtz Sizzix “Tapestry” Texture Fades embossing folder. This will add a beautiful pattern and wonderful texture to each of these panels. Although this embossing folder was released for the Fall/Halloween season, you will be amazed at how perfect it is for this card background!

Next, we can add a vintage look to the high spots on the embossed areas and some ink around the edges using the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink in Scorched Timber.

Let’s take a look at the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits – Bloom, Colorize Die Set. There are two wonderful leaf sprays that we can die cut in some white cardstock. We will layer them using this white cardstock and then add some color by spattering the leaves with the various colors of Distress Inks. Let’s also add some Scorched Timber in around the edges.

For our sentiments, we will use the Tim Holtz idea-ology Quote Chips “Labels” set. This set has so many wonderful sentiments that it will be very hard to choose! We can ink around the edges of these quote chips as well.

Next, let’s assemble these items onto our card base which will be created using the Tim Holtz Distress Kraft Heavystock.

For a finishing touch, let’s add some beautiful Metallic Matte Gold Pearls!
