Art Impressions Flower and Bug Set (6041)

Today we will be creating a fun Shabby Chic Gift Card Holder using the brand-new Ai Flower & Bug Set (6041) which was designed to fit perfectly on the Ai Gift Card Pocket Set (5811). This new Flower & Bug set includes a pretty flower and stem, a ladybug, a bee, and a little tag!

Let’s get started by using the Ai Mother’s Day Cover Paper Pack (6052) to create the little gift card pocket. As soon as I saw the beautiful roses paper in this pack, I knew that I had to do a Shabby Chic project! We will die cut this, assemble the pocket, and then start adding some ink to the edges to begin the Shabby Chic look. We will use a combination of Lost Shadow, Hickory Smoke, and Vintage Photo inks from the Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads.

We also need to die-cut the flower, stem, and tag and we will also die-cut a pretty doily from the Tim Holtz Collection. We can ink the flower and tag in the Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, and Picked Raspberry and the stem in the Lost Shadow and Hickory Smoke. We can ink around the edges of all of these pieces with the Vintage Photo ink as well.

Next, let’s add some Tim Holtz Distress Spritz in the same Vintage Photo. We will use the ink directly from the nozzle and spatter the pocket, flower and stem, doily, and tag! This will add a vintage look and also a bit of shimmer!

Now we will stamp a bit of text onto the tag using the Versafine Clair Ink Pad in Sand Dune. We can add a sentiment to the tag in this same ink. The sentiment if from the Ai Friend Sentiments Set (5734) and it says, “Live life in full bloom”, however, any of the sentiments from this set would be great.

We can add the doily, flower and stem to the pocket. You can use the left-over doily on the backside of the pocket if you want finish off the back of the pocket. Let’s also create a card for the pocket which will be the same size as a gift card. Then we can add the smaller tag to the top on a little bit of an angle.

Let’s add a button to the center of the flower and then we will add some Tim Holtz Distress Foundry Wax to the button and around the edges of the pocket. Be sure to heat set this once you have applied it otherwise it will just turn to a dust like consistency. Once it has been heat set it will add a metallic shine to your project. I will show you exactly how to use this wonderful product in today’s video.

We will also add some sparkle using the Tim Holtz Distress Mica Flakes around the edges of the pocket, flower and mini tag.

Let’s wrap some pretty Hemp Twine in Dusty Rose around the pocket and tie a bow. And, as a finishing touch we will add some Metallic Gems in Matte Gold. These have a nice vintage look to them!

Just add your gift card and sign the card and you are all set to give this pretty vintage gift to a special someone!
