Re-imagining your Matchbook Dies!

We are going to have some fun today by re-imagining the Ai Matchbook Template Die Set (5317). We are going to use the Matchbook card base, however, for the images we will be using the Ai Honey Bee Set (5925) which includes the most adorable little bees, hives, flowers, honeycomb and the cutest coordinating sentiments.

This card was inspired by the current Ai “Case that Card” Blog Challenge! The term “case” is to “copy and share everything”. This is a great way to get a card idea that can be used as your inspiration to create your own version of this idea. This is especially helpful if you are in a creative slump…this can help to get your creative juices flowing again.

So, I would like to thank our very own Design Team Member, Renee for this fantastic “out-of-the-box” idea! When I saw the adorable little village scene that she created using the matchbook template die set, I wished I had thought of it myself…lol! I thought I would honor her by creating this “bee” version because I know that she loves bee themed cards!

Take a look at Renee’s sweet matchbook scene that inspired today’s card:

So, let’s begin by stamping, die-cutting, and coloring all of the images that we will be using today. All of the coloring was done using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Flesh Colour, Tear Rose, Bright Yellow, Scarlet Red, Geranium Red, Yellow, Haze Blue, Green Gray, Beige, Mid Brown, Cool Gray 6.

Using a heavyweight black cardstock, let’s also die-cut a pretty fence using the Ai WC Arbor Die Set (5363).

Let’s set these aside while we build the matchbook base using the Ai Matchbook Template Die Set (5317) and some pretty patterned paper from the Easter S2 Paper Pack (5892). We will use this same paper to create the coordinating envelope using the Ai Envelope Template Die Set (5318). I’ll show you exactly how to quickly and easily die-cut and fold the matchbook and envelope in today’s video.

Next, we can add all of our adorable images, including the fence and add a few sweet sentiments from this same set. I saved one of the bees for the back of the envelope….so cute!

For a finishing touch, let’s add some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter to the wings of the bees and add some highlights with a white gel pen!
